What's your opinion ...

on having kids at a wedding?

This is a HUGE issue between the FH & I.

He's got 4 neices & nephews. One will be 9 at the time of the wedding. The others 3, 2 and 1. I said no kids. Which if I'm saying that, then I'm excluding my own cousin (which she'll be 11), but I always said no kids. He's also got cousins who 2 of them will be 18 at the time of the wedding, and one will be 15/16.

NONE of the kids are in our BP. We are not doing a FG & RB.

I only have 1 child on my side, and I said I'd say no to her to have the adult reception I always wanted.

He can't decide.

But what's your look on it?

((The FH will be reading this! LOL his first REAL post he'll be reading! haha))

What me and DF agreed on was no children at the reception. Neices and Nephews are all in the bridal party. They will stay for the ceremony and cocktail hour then I have a babysitter coming to pick them up. It was our compromise.

Oh yeah....we are doing 18 & older at the reception

I don't want them.

They're stinky, smelly, and kids today have no discipline.

Somewhat kidding but no kids at the wedding for me...

I'm not having kids at my wedding. They are always on the dance floor running around & I just want to dance & not worry about tripping over one of the kids. Plus I think the parents would enjoy themselves more by having a night out without the kids. My age limit is 16 & above.

We're not having any children. FSIL is really pissed that her son can't come, but he's only 18 months old. I don't think that a wedding that goes until 1am is any place for a child.

Oh I want to tell you something about the discipline but I can't cuz the FH will see it!!

Re: What's your opinion ...

we decided no kids...and no under under the age of 18 (it might be 21 though) with the exception of the FG and RB.

if we had said yes to one kid, we'd have to say yes to all and both our families are huge and have a million little kids right now (about 50) and at 1/2 price per plate...its not worth it.

if u have a small # im sure itll be fine...u can even get someone to babysit or maybe see if the RH has a room for them to play in and set up activities there and get someone u know to stay with them.

well My FH wanted his 2 cousins (whom we almost never see) to be teh FG, i wanted my neighbors
i decided NOT to have my own 2 cousins as RB
i just wanted the one FG

we decided on no kids - im going to have an adult-only reception but I am going to tell my aunt if she wants to bring the kids she can but im going to try to encourgae her to enjoy a night out w/o them

so yea - basically no kids!

I don't want any children at the reception. FH's family is large and there are many children we'd have to invite. He was undecided until we went to his friend's wedding over the summer where a little boy and a little girl cried through the entire thing.

Literally screamed through the vows to the point where we couldn't hear anything else. They cried during the toasts and were all over the dance floor.

After that night, he came over to my side

I'm having kids at mine.

I'm very close with my extended family and I wouldn't feel right if they weren't all coming. However, my mothers friends children are not allowed.....ONLY family children, if that makes any sense.

Plus I love kids.....they amuse me.

Re: What's your opinion ...

ok well i am definitely going to have this problem and not with FH's side but with my side (specifically my dads and i know my grandma will say something cause she has before with sweet 16s and stuff)

but here it goes:

FH has no young cousins except 2 and they are the RB and FG so they are invited but dont know if their parents will bring them to Reception

I on the otherhand have 21 first cousins...and alot of them are under the age of 16...ughh

well i cant make the age limit 21 or even 18 for my wedding cause even though my bridal party has 3 people in it who will be under 21 (my cousin and sisters) i have 1 cousin (Michael) who is not in the BP but his sister is and he wont be 18 by the time our wedding comes- but i said he is definitely coming to my wedding cause i am soo close to him and his sister (their on my moms side and she doesnt have a big family so most of the cousins are on my dads)

but my dads side i have 2 cousins who will be the same age as my cousin Michael and i am not close to them at all...but I gave in and decided i will invite them so i dont hear it from my grandmother that they are the same age why arent they here....so our age limit is now 17yrs old

but i have a cousin who is 16 and the sister of one of the 2 cousins who will be 17 on my dads side...but i am not inviting her cause i put my foot down and said no one under the age of 17 invited

it will def def def cause problems...but whocares its our wedding and we are paying-- and I DONT WANT KIDS RUNNING AROUND!!!!!!!

Re: What's your opinion ...

We're not having children under the age of 13 at the reception EXCEPT for the Flower girl and Ring Bearer (they are sisters). FH has way too many little cousins and I LOVE children but just not at events like this. They get roudy, they are all over the dance floor and then the parents can't have a relaxing time b/c they are chasing after them. I wanted no children at all...originally I said 18 and older but I relented and said 13 because at least at that age, they are manageable. Hope this helps!

We're having 7 kids at the wedding, 4 of whom are in the wedding party and the other 3 are immediate family members not in the bridal party. Other than that, we've told everyone adult reception.

I wasn't sure about this...bc I tend to not like having kids at weddings...they're a mess and sometimes the things they do are just so annoying..but on the other hand..i really can't imagine a family function without them. We have less than 10 kids total that would be invited..so we're just letting them come...I hope we don't regret it!!

Re: What's your opinion ...

I love kids but it will be too much if we invite kids...Fh has a very big family and with a big guest list the amount of possible kids is just gonna be toooo many people there...Also it will be alot more expensive...having kids will mean we end up having more tables, which means extra cp's, then its alot of money to pay for chicken fingers and fries, spending close to $100 for that is a bit much.

Plus with the possibility of sooo many kids it can turn into a mess and then its too many kids there.

I would love for our RB and FG to be there though

Re: What's your opinion ...

my mom has a no bull sh$t police for the ceremony, loves the family but if there is even noise from a cell let alone a baby she will flip!

i am 300% behind her.

my family and FH family i think by the time of the wedding the youngest that woudl be ALLOWED would be 7 years old.

im not saying this to gass up my family but hes the most polite 6 yr old now, he is literally a saint. but again if he makes an issue my mom and i also will have a FIT!

my cousin just adopetd a baby boy, he will be barely 2 next year... my mom told me under no circumstances will he be there.

thankfully everyone else is in college now.

I will be having a few children at the reception, it is my and fh's closest family members, most of them are in the wedding. I have 2 jr. bm's, 1 jr groomsmen, a fg and rb and there are about 3 more that will be invited. I couldn't imagine my wedding day w/ out them
