I met Andrew about a year before we started dating. I knew there was something between us the moment I saw him. We had been friendly and saw each other occasionally. About a month before I asked him out I realized he was 'the one'. I asked him out in April '96 (2 months before our high school graduations) even though I knew he was taking someone else to the prom. He said yes, dates were eventually changed for the prom, and after about 4 months we said 'I love you'! It is now 6 1/2 years later and there's been nothing but smooth sailing!

I was in florida about three weeks or so after we started dating
and we were talking on the phone forever one nite about how we felt etc..... and I said something like maybe when I come back you will feel differently about me and he said something like
How do you know I already dont feel that?? then i wanted to cry and before we hung up he had gave in and said it!

what nice stories! i knew on our first date that it was something very very special. he told me he loved me about three weeks later & then i said it right back!

Although I am sure I 'thought' it first, he actually siad it first.

My hubby lived in Long Beach when I first started dating him (yes, we've been to Minnesota's too, we even know the owner!!). We took a walk down to the beach one night on our way to pick up Chinese take-out. We were just shooting the breeze about our work day, when out of nowhere he tells me he loves me. I will never forget it as he really came out of the clear blue to say it. It definitely stopped me dead in my tracks. But I don't think I said it back to him right away!! But I know it wasn't long after that that those three words we said very often.

Edited to say I knew he was the one after he threw me a surprise 25th b-day party and got me a diamond and ruby bracelet - - and we had been dating less than 2 month at that point. I can't really say when he knew I was the one because it took him 3.5 years to propose and another 1.5 years to get married!!

i had another boyfriend! He knew - and we were completely platonic. I would go on and on - 'how can I tell him I want to end it', 'we want different things', 'what do you think' Two months after we knew each other he said 'What I think is that I love you.....and I am the one you shoudllld be worrying about!'

Peter and I dated for 3 years when we were younger, broke up for 6 and now have been back together for 1.5 years.
I knew the day that we had our 'first' kiss that I was totally in love with him and that he was the ONE!! But I didn't tell him because we had just gotten out of bad longterm relationships and I was being cautious about the whole situation. He said it to me first a week after our 'first' kiss.

hate to say it, but 9/11. I was so scared, standing in the parking lot of work with my car blocked in, thinking that this was it, we were going to be bombed and die any minute, and all I wanted to do was be by his side. It hit me hard that day that I loved him without a doubt.

He told me after 2 weeks. I was shocked i couldn't say it back at that point. I think I held out another month! We have been inseperable ever since.

Well out of the 7 years we've known one another, our relationship took a turn last August, and we were talking online(cause he lives in Florida) he told me 'don't be surprised when I see you that I will tell you I love you'. That freaked me out.

But it wasn't until I saw him again in May '01, Memorial Day weekend that he told me he loved me.

I knew after our first date he was the one. He was different than all the other guys I had dated. He told me he loved me 4 months later ironically on April fools day!

My fiance's best friend is my friend's husband. they brought him to a party I had. We spoke for about five minutes the whole night, but the next morning my mom called to see how the party went and I NEARLY blurted to her, 'i am going to marry that guy.' I knew it. I heard this big voice in my head and just knew it. I called my other friend and told her. My fiance and I have been together since three weeks later at his b-day party, when we actually got to hang out and he had the same kind of moment. He said it was just this spark. As for actually saying 'I love you,' that happened about 2-3 months later. And happened so casually we didn't even realize. then later he said, 'did you hear what i said?' And I said, 'Yep, slipped out?' He said, 'Nope, I meant to say it.'

David and I were college sweethearts who got back together 6 years later. Although I was comfortable with him when we got back together, I didn't know whether this was a fling or something serious. He said 'I love you' in the gardens at Fox Hollow (we were attending a friend's wedding) about 4 months after dating. Unfortunately for him, he did not hear me say 'I love you.' He was pretty quiet for a week and on the night before I left for a month-long trip to Australia, he told me that he wouldn't be surprised to hear that I would have a fling overseas! Needless to say, we had a fight and it came out that I did return the 'I love you' but he didn't hear it. During my trip, I realized that he was perfect for me and this was the real thing, not a fling. I wound up cutting my trip short by several days because I missed him so much!

I too was not into my FH when I first met him (NOT AT ALL!) He asked me out for months (four to be exact) before I finally agreed to go out on a date with him. We went out for dinner and I must say he completely changed my opinion of him on that one date! We just had dinner and drinks and I came home feeling all tingly inside! (I was also very determined to update his wardrobe, boy was he stuck in the late eighties/early nineties!) Now my baby is much more stylish!!

I knew a few weeks after we started dating. I had been diagnosed with a blood disorder about a week before we started dating. When I finally got the courage to tell him, he said it didn't effect how he felt and he would be there for me. Then a month later I was in the hospital and he was there by my side all day, (a nurse had to kick him out-twice!), and when I saw how scared he was, I knew then that I would marry him. He said I LOVE YOU a little while after that and of course I said it back!

I knew the night we met - it was weird. I was three weeks out of a two year relationship and I went away for the weekend telling my friends I didn't want a boyfriend for at least six months. I met him a few hours later and I just knew. It is funny how things work out. One month later, we were in a bar (and kind of drunk) when I told him that I knew he had something to tell me. And that is when he said those magic words...
