What was your initial reaction???

It was weird...I was almost scared because I felt like I was having some kind of out of body experience or something...it was something like I have never felt before...very weird

Same here...complete out of body experience. We were surrounded by tons of people with waterfalls rushing around us and it got really quiet and all I could hear was his voice.

I like hit him.. LOL

I HATE surprises and always thought Id figure it out before hand.. so when he did it I was like YOU IDIOT...WHO ELSE KNOWS

I kinda knew....he wanted to make sure that i picked the ring out...so we went to pick the diamond(my dad has a friend who owns a store down in the jewerly section of NYC) and we picked the setting....and then i didnt see the end result until he proposed...when we went away together coming up on 1 year!!!

He was VERY romantic about it though...it was still very sweet!!

He got down on one knee, opened this silver jewelery box that was on a table next to us and I looked at him and the box and saw the shine of the ring, I kept saying NO NO, was totally shocked and then I stopped so he could ask me to marry him

I new it was going to happen I just didn't know the exact day. We went looking around so I could try on rings. He asked me over dinner with my parents. He asked my parents for my hand before he proposed to me.
I thought that was so GREAT!!!!
Anyway, he asked me at dinner and I wanted to crawl under the table. My FI is very shy so I was shocked he even did this in front of anyone.
Later that night he got done on one knee and asked again because he knows I like that.

So Cute!!!

He coulnd't even get down on one knee because he said I looked like I was ready to bolt. I honestly had no idea what was going on but I think I kind of freaked!

I definitely wasn't expecting it, even though we discussed it numerous times before.

Our story is a bit funny.. two days before our first official vacation together, we get into a huge fight and he says to me what if I am not ready to propose at Christmas? (at the time I we had talked about doing this) and I told him it takes two people to get married, I will wait not to worry..

So we leave on vacation.. and on our third night there (Arizona) we are at the pool at night (very romantic, with palm trees and all the stars) so he tells me I have to go to the bathroom and heads back to the room about 15 mins later he returns and I'm like freezing at this point and I want to leave and he is like no no stay with me and I wanted to leave so he starts splashing me (very annoying) and I reach for the towel to dry my face (by the side of the pool which he placed there and I didn't even notice lol) I lift up the towel and there is the ring.. I think I screamed, yelped something.. and he asked to marry me on bended knee in the pool... i just grabbed him and almost drowned the poor boy.. but it was fun and romantic and silly just like all proposals are

I threw up. He proposed during my family's Passover seder asking me the 5th question. After the first course of matzo ball soup, I ran into the bathroom and purged.

Well, where shall I start?????
FH made reservations at this beautiful restaraunt in the village. It's called One by land Two by sea. The place was beautiful. There were roses on the tables and surrounding the whole restaraunt. There was a fireplace and a man playing the piano. PICTURE PERFECT!!!!
I knew it was going to happen, b/c we were initially soppposed to go to one of his fireman functions, so when we passed the exit where the function was being held at....I knew something was up.
We talked and laughed all during dinner. He waiting until the very last moment to ask me. Finally after dessert, my baby got down on his knees, said some very nice things, and asked me to be his wife. The waiters came out and had a champagne toast for us.
We left the restaraunt and I was screaming all over Manhattan. Girls were cheering for me. The whole ride home I was calling everyone I could think of. My Mom knew it was going to happen b/c FH asked her for my hand in marriage. But still, when I called her, she was crying!!! When we reached his house, and went in his room.............there were candles, rose pettles and balloons.
I was amazed!!!!!!! Everyone was waititng for us to get home, b/c he planned that we would have an after party with everyone!!!!!!!!!
Yup, he did a really good job, b/c I'll never forget it! I love my baby!!!!!!!!!!

I didn't know whether i wanted to sit down or jump up - laugh or cry - i was so completly overwhelmed!! not to mention he propsed on christmas with my entire family there - so they only added to my overwhelmed feelings!!
But really - he would say - all i did was laugh and laugh - i'm not a cryer - so laughing was all i could get out!!

Ditto! I kind of went into a trance...I felt so weird...! You can see it in my pic...I look like I'm in complete shock!

I was pretty happy that he *finally* proposed after 6 1/2 years
