Re: Where are all of my AUGUST 05 Brides?

So my mom is totally trying to sabotage me. I asked her back in May when DF and I got engaged to make up a list of people for our wedding.
In September I ordered my STD magnets. She still did not have the list then. I waited until December - finally, I sent DF's his parent's and my STD magnets out b/c I was so frustrated with her total lack of interest.

I kept asking and then one day her address book magically disappeared. So I went to my grandma's house this past week and used her address book to type up all of our side of the family.

On Wednesday I asked her to review the list, add and delete anyone she wanted to and return the list to me by Sunday (today). Well I called her last night to see if she made any progress and she said no, but it would be done before this morning. Ok, I believed her.

I get an email today with FIVE lists attached. (Not pages - separate lists). She was like well I have so many lists and did not know which one is which - I think I have duplicate names and incomplete info.

So I asked her, why don't you sort everyone by name and delete the duplicates. That was too much for her so she yelled at me.

I had class this morning and had to leave. So now I took her five lists and organized them so that they are alphabetized and not duplicative any more.

I sent it back to her. OMG I am so frustrated with her. Her list is over 200 people long and my DF's side has 100 people. My DF and I have 40 people together and she is the one complaining about $ (I am trying to keep the list short) and she can't figure out what she wants to do. I am so frustrated. ARGH, thanks for letting me vent.

Irs- O-M-G!

why is your mom being like that? I would have just been like, 'Fine, then NOBODY is coming if you don't give me the addresses!'... that's the point I'M at... where, as long as MY friends, and obviously the close family I have addresses for would be ther,e but anyone that MOM/Step-dad, as well as FH's family (although JUST finally got the list last night)... I don' tcare WHO elase gets' invited to MY wedding! ha ha... let their friends stay home! I dindn't want to pay for them anyways!

ha ha

this is obviously a touchy subject for a lot of us!!

We feel your pain!

ne question...what is a bridal butterfly? I am doing buterfly releases but you have ladies dressing as butterflies or something..please explain.. thanx

LOL...I came up with the bridal butterfly concept because i didn't want any of my girls to be called 'maids'...you know 'there ain't no maids in here'...so I wrote out this poem inviting each of my girls to be a bridal butterfly and sort of help me spread my wings on the big day...corny? Then I wrap my entire theme into butterflies...ie release, invites, programs, favors, etc.

Re: Where are all of my AUGUST 05 Brides?

Progress was made this evening. Ok so our guest list is over 300 people. My parents came over - we went through all of the lists and culled some people. I am grateful that they are paying for our wedding but OMG could it be any more difficult? I am off to put names and addresses together.
Sue, thanks for your sympathy. I really needed to hear it.

Re: Where are all of my AUGUST 05 Brides?

Yeah Irs- Glad to hear things are starting to work themselves out!

I made a bit of progress too... FINALLY picked the invite WORDING (that was a project all in isteself!) and the font... don't get me started Then counted the invite list, it's at 140ish.. and we want 100-110... so I actually think that this is managable, b/c of the no-show rate usually at 20%, do you guys think it's safe to invite all the 140ish...?? I'm actually starting to feel a bit better about this whole invite process

We started our 3rd (actually 4th, but we got rid of Target and Macys) registry at Bed Bath and Byond yesterday, but FH got a headache, so we left and went to Neenies' house to drop off card holder. but at least they have us on file now!

I think I am giong to order Stickers for our Bubbles, but I also really like the cards that say 'Rice is traditional, but bubbles are fun to wish the newlyweds well, as their new life has begun'... or someint g like that... so I have to decide that befoer I place the invites, to save on shipping of which ones I want...

ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh I'm glad to hear we're all making progress!

I don't see anything wrong with inviting 140ish if you were originally shooting for 110ish...the no-show factor is true, but just prepare yourself in case they do show...i started looking at wording and fonts, and who would think there are so many ways to say 'We're getting married, come see!!' and the thousands of font -- EEEEESSSSSSSSSSSHHHH!!

Re: Where are all of my AUGUST 05 Brides?

So I wanted to update ya'll on my mom - since Sunday she has been excited about the wedding. And most amazingly this evening as I was getting off the phone she said please tell DF that 'I love him.' I am so happy. This was a first coming from her. Usually when we get off the phone I am the one to say good night and love you, but she said it totally unprompted by me.

Hi all,
I hope that you had a great weekend! Sue, did you have fun at Neen's wedding? I saw the photos and you looked great.

We registered and purchased our wedding bands this weekend. I have a hair trial tomorrow. I also purchased this great pin for my dress. It is a flower - I saw it for over 200 in the wedding salon but I got it in the city for 10 dollars. So happy!

Talk to ya'll soon,
Lisa

Re: Where are all of my AUGUST 05 Brides?

Sue - We purchased our bands at Fortunoff's this weekend b/c we registered there and received 10% off. We went to a few stores before selecting them. DF found his ring about a month ago. It is the Artcarved boundless ring. (Fortunoff's price is over 100 dollars less than Macy's) my ring took a lot longer to find. I wanted a simple straight edge platinum band. No one seemed to have what I was looking for. In fact we had originally gone to Fortunoff's a few months ago and they did not have it - but this time they did.

I have everything left...I got my dress, hall, church. I am in process of sending STD cards. I have flower girl baskets, table card holders, and guest book set. Other than that - I have everything left. I am so nervous...I'm such a slug...

Glad everyone is making progress. I did nothing wedding related this weekend. I needed a break. Plus I had a paper to write. However, I will be back to planning this week. Our next project is invitations, wedding bands, and ordering butterflies.

Have a great week

Hey.

Overall, were their bands VERY expensive? I LOVE the stuff at fortunoff, and we also have that 10% off coupon, but I hadn't gone to look b/c was scared if they were expensive. We were goin gto go to tri-county, but I think I would be more comfortable at Fortunoff... I'll have to go check it out!

SO- now when we get home on Thursday, it's
1- ORDER invites
2- CALL Officiant
3- Call Musicians
4- Order Favors
5- FINISH registry (consolidate)
6-FInalize lists
8-first fitting Friday (anyone want to come?)
7- Hair/Makeup trial Saturday
8- look for BM/GM gifts

BUSY week!

Re: the wedding bands at fortunoff's
My DF's band is 18K white gold and it is $350 (after the 10% discount) for a 6 mm band. He did not want a platinum band - if he did it would have cost a lot more.
My band is 2.5 mm and platinum to match my e-ring. They have to call us with the price but DF's words were 'Even if it were 10,000 I don't care b/c it is what you want and I could see that you are happy. I want you to be happy with your ring, so what ever price is just say ok b/c it is fine with me.' I love my DF. I think that the 1 mm platinum was $300 and the 2.5 mm 18K yellow gold was $345 so I expect the 2.5 mm platinum to be about 600.

They have some lovely bands with diamonds for 600-12,000. I think it depends upon what you are looking for, either with or without stones, and the type of metal.

As for Friday, where and at what time is your fitting? I have a lunch appointment in Manhattan at noon.

it's NOT really a 'fitting'.. it's for an ESTIMATE of what alterations need to be done, and at what price.

I am not getting alterations done where I bought the dress, so the Bridal store i AM getting it done in, said to come in with the dress, to SEE what needs to be done, and then they can quote me a price. I didn't want to BLINDLY go there and be stuck paying whatever it cost.. i want it up-front price.

(Irs, i'ts in Bethpage, at 11:30-but it's not really a 'fitting' just trying on! ha ha)
