where are your parents sitting at the reception?

with the groom's parents or not? my fh's family is from england so they don't know anyone at the wedding. i thought it was proper to have all the parents sit together.

Both sets of parents can sit together.

My parents, grandparents and Aunt & Uncle from India are sitting to our right. His parents/siblings/Aunt are sitting to our left.

I am having my immediate family sit to our left and my bestest friends sitting to our right (the table to our right is in the corner and no one else would want to sit there). FH's immediate family is sitting a few tables away at another 12-seater.

I think it is usually proper for the parents to sit together. however my families were seperate at our wedding because DH's family sat together and he has a big family.

Originally I had wanted our parents to sit together but it actually worked out much better if the parents sit with their families on either side of us. Although my mom insists on sitting with her friends instead of her family (number wise it makes more senes), but they will be next to us.

For our wedding they did not sit together. They sat right next to eachother and their immediate families sat with them. It just worked out better that way. I think anyway is fine, unless your family made a special request

We are seating both sets of parents with their respective closest family members - so there will be two 'head' tables in a way. I thought this was how it was normally done? But I think it's very nice for both parents to sit together as well, esp. if your FILs will not really know anyone.

My parents are sitting with my dad's parents. I would like FH's family's table to be right next to them too! We haven't worked out all the details yet!

We are siting at the center and on my side will be my parents with their bros and sis and grandparents and on FH side will be his parents w/ bros and sis and grandparents (or whoever can fit b/c he has LOTS of aunts and uncles)

But in ur situation, i see no problem with all the parents sitting together!

i sat my family on the left and his on the right..They are a big family so it was hard to sit the parents together....but if his parents dont know anyone and your parents an aunts fit in a table with them , i think that will be good for them...

My parents sat at table number one with their sisters and brothers, his mom sat at table two with her family such as her siblings and his dad set at table 4 with his sisters, etc. I've actually never been to a wedding where the parents sit together but i think it's a cool idea.

my parents are divorced so i can't sit them together and i cant sit one with fh's parents and not the other. so they are each hosting their own table...at which my grandma, their siblings or close friends will sit at.

if it works out that u can sit them together...that's great. if not...its okay.

my parents sat at table one which was to the right of us and his parents sat at table 2 which was to the left of us. We did it this way bc dh has alot of family and his parents sat with them, his dads sisters, his grandmother and closest family friends sat with them. My parents sat with my grandmother, my uncle, and their closest friends. It worked out best for us this way bc otherwise people close to both our parents were able to sit with them,

If his parents dont have other family members there or other people they are very close with then you can put them at your parents table

We are sitting them at different tables i think. My immediate family is so big that they take up their own table.

Normally, the each set of parents sit with their children. Do you have any siblings? IMO, I think it is best to sit them that way. Have they met before? Do you know if they will get along? What if they don't.

Our parents didn't sit together, they each sat at a table with their siblings (my aunts/uncles) & their spouses.

we are giving both sets of parents their own tables and giving them the choice of who they want to sit with them
