I'm just wondering where you got engaged? Was it romantic? Did you cry? Were you suprised?
I was SHOCKED when the love of my life Carlos proposed. We had been going out for a few years but I never thought he would pop the question so soon. He even asked my Dad if he was OK with it!
I'm in the beginning stages of my planning and need all the help I can get. I've been browsing through so many sites, chat boards, and vendors. I'm so excited!

At the beach...it was awesome. I HAD NOOOOO IDEA! When we got back to my house both of our families were there waiting for us w/champagne. It was amazing! The best part was that he had asked my dad's permission first!

We and another couple (good friends) went on a cruise to Bermuda. He bought the ring in Bermuda, which he caught a lot of flack for because he kept disappearing. He proposed at dinner on our last night at sea. He had the ship staff put the ring in my sorbet (which was really crushed ice). FH and the other couple kept prodding me to eat the sorbet and I kept refusing because it was ice. Finally I took a spoonful......nothing. They told me to take another.... then it happened, I bit down on my ring. (ouch, good thing he got platinum ) Next thing I knew, he was down on one knee telling me that we had been through so much together and he could not imagine me not being a part of his life, would I marry him. He was crying, I was crying, our friends were crying... even the waitress was crying. He even arranged to have the ship's photographer take pictures throughout the whole proposal. The whole ship seemed to know about it....but me.

At the International Spy Museum here in Washington, DC. He asked me in front of like 50 tourists! It totally took me by surprise, and yes, I cried!

On the beach next to the montauk lighthouse at sunset! I actually had suspected that it woudl happen that day but then as the events of the day unfolded I had no idea. My FI wasnt the least bit nervous or anything and I always thought he would be a wreck so when he wasnt I wrote it off and thought ahh another time I guess! When he did it I was surprised but I didnt cry at all! I thought I would but I just got this HUGE smile and knelt down to hug him. I had never even answered him so he pushed me away to get my answer. And I just had such this urge to hug him and be held by him I didnt even let him put the ring on for a few minutes and I didnt look at it until at least 15 minutes later!

On Valentine's Day at a really nice resteraunt in the Pocanoes. He couldn't wait until dinner so just before he took me outside on the ice overlooking the mountain and got down on one knee. The Proposel

We got engaged at his ski house in Naples, NY...where we met and fell in love. I was totally shocked, totally surprised and I cried ALOT! :)
We were in Buffalo for a college friend's wedding (we went to the University at Buffalo and met freshman year). The day before the wedding we went back to our old college campus to look around and walked over to the lake behind the bookstore. They have these huge greek columns overlooking the water so we climbed up and (to make a long story short) on the way down he stopped me and asked me to marry him.
I was starting to cry as I hugged him but as I looked over at him I saw this huge smile on his face and started laughing.

He planned a weekend in the city and booked a suite at the Ritz Carlton. I thought it was all for my birthday, but he woke me up the next morning with the ring!

Us too! We had been there a few times but for Valentine's Day weekend in 2002, we went to Montauk for the weekend and on Sat night he got us the table by the fireplace by ourselves. The whole restaurant knew what he was going to do. Everyone watched as he proposed to me and then the manager sent over a bottle of champagne.

We got enganged at Smith's point beach. Very romantic, waves crashing in the back ground, laying on a beach blanket. I can't wait to tell my grandchildren how it happened

We went to the wineries with our best friends (which we do a lot in the summer) for what I thought was a celebration of thier 6 month anniversary and for her finishing her first year of teaching. My FH was calm and collected. I suspected nothing. I knew it would happen one day (we had been together over 7 years already), just not then. We ended up at my favorite winery (Pugliese). He walked me down to the lake area there and got down on his knee. I was floored! I was so in shock and crying! I was so happy! We have pics of it all!
