Where else have you lived? Do you want to stay here?

We just moved to Long Island about 2 years ago and I can't believe that people actually have money to buy houses here. How many of you have lived somewhere else? I do like Long Island, but can't afford it. We are looking to get out.

I am from upstate and I also lived in the midwest for a few years. It's weird how different areas have such different ways of life. Anybody else?

I am from Rochester, my FI from the Bronx. I moved to Iowa (not recommended) and he moved to Oklahoma City. So I hear ya about Oklahoma. Imagine a Bronx boy there.

yeah...a bronx boy in Oklahoma...not a pretty site! My brother lived in Iowa when he got married...they quickly made their way back to NY...HAHAHA

Where in Iowa? I was in Cedar Rapids, but also did work in Des Moines. How long ago?

I was born in Brooklyn, moved to Queens when I was a baby. Went to college in Boston, and lived in London for 6 months. I would love to move back to Boston or London but FH has never lived anywhere but Queens!

we're both from LI forever. we want to go up to somewhere between Rhode Island and Boston...maybe like an hour out of Boston. Our BM is in Providence and loves it. His goal is to get to the Boston area at some point. Maybe we'll all be up there together

besides my 3 1/2 years of college in Albany, I've lived on LI my whole life.

i'm moving to jersey...not much different than long island... cheaper taxes though... and big hair.

He was in Debuqe...just moved back in September, but was there for almost 3 years. Thats where his wifey is from.

i LOVE Boston, Its one of the few places I would consider going...Rhode Island too!

Grew up in LI.
Went to college in NJ, then stuck around in NJ for another year, basically working a partying like I was still in college.
Moved to Seattle for Grad school and post-doc, was there for 8 years. FI had followed me out after he finished grad school for the last 2 years (we had an LDR for 6 years).
Lived in Queens for just under 1.5 years, worked in the Bronx.
Moved back to Seattle (job related move for FI), and have been here for a year.

FI is from NJ. We both think of LI as a nice place to visit my parents (in short doses). I do love the LI beach and I have to swim in the ocean at least once a year - my parents have a cabana and I love going there. We won't be living in LI permanently probably ever.

Just in upstate NY (Poughkeepsie to be exact) when I was in college! I always missed being on LI...I don't think I will ever leave!

Born in NY....lived in Sierra Leona and Ivory Coast till I was 14. Moved to London, lived there till I was 18 also spent a couple of months in Switzerland. Moved back to NY lived there till I was 25. Moved to MD/DC area lived there till last September and currently live in Chicago....

Who knows where next I'm headed....definitely not staying here...can't stand it..ugh

Oh, I've never lived on LI.

Im from Rocha-cha too (kinda)...grew up in buffalo, but went to school in Rochester and lived there a few years after school until we moved here!

I lived in Maryland for a yr and half while in HS. Now I live in Suffolk, back in good old NY. I really want to stay here, because I learned that the rest of the country although maybe very nice, it just can;t compare to NY, my home!

born and raised on LI. also, i just bought a home here, so i'll be staying for awhile!! FH was born in PA, then lived in GA for a little while, before coming up to LI for college. then he met me and never left!!!

I grew up on LI.

I went to law school in Pittsburgh and I was very homesick. It is very nice and affordable there, though.

I lived in NY City for 4 years then came back to LI. I loved the city and I miss it terribly. I do love my house on LI though. My DH doesn't want to move back to the city!

We will probably never move out of state again!

ditto! i've visited many other places but nothing compares to LI!!! I want to raise my kids here.

I lived in Queens my whole life. I moved once...from the house next door to the one I live in now

Will be moving to Bayside after the wedding.

One day I hope to have homes in Italy and Greece and live there part of the year. If we have children, it will be after they are adults and on their own.
