We just moved to Long Island about 2 years ago and I can't believe that people actually have money to buy houses here. How many of you have lived somewhere else? I do like Long Island, but can't afford it. We are looking to get out.

I am from upstate and I also lived in the midwest for a few years. It's weird how different areas have such different ways of life. Anybody else?

I grew up in Manhattan, lived in Brooklyn after college, lived in LI where I met my ex... We lived in Vermont together for a few years, moved back to LI, broke up, met my FH, who has 2 daughters here, so after they get a bit older, we want to move to Northern California....

I would go anywhere my loveboat goes, even if that meant down south and meant our kids would get the southern accent. Which would kill me!!!!!
But it looks like we are staying in LI at least until the kids graduate school.

I've lived on LI, in PA, NJ, the UK and now Queens. I liked all the places I lived, but I would prefer to stay in Queens.

Both FH and I were born and raised on LI. FH went to college and Albany and now has a job there. So, although I have said my whole life that I would never leave LI, I will be leaving to move upstate with him after the wedding (unless of course a meteorolgy job opens on LI before the wedding!).

I grew up in Queens then moved to LI to go to school SUnyStonybrook then I moved Upstate

LOL I graduated from Stony Brook in 2003.

besides my 3 1/2 years of college in Albany, I've lived on LI my whole life.

i'm moving to jersey...not much different than long island... cheaper taxes though... and big hair.

We're planning on buying in jersey too but the prperty taxes can still be really high depending on the area. I've heard of some people like in Hoboken paying 10K just on taxes.

LOL to answer the original question. I lived in Stony Brook for college, Huntington for 1 year of law school (commuted the rest), Queens for a few years, Brooklyn for the vast majority of my life and PA for 1 year of college. I won't try to buy anything in LI because it would cost way too much and not really where I want to live. We will be moving to NJ because it's cheaper and we can get more property there.

Im from Rocha-cha too (kinda)...grew up in buffalo, but went to school in Rochester and lived there a few years after school until we moved here!

I'm from Henrietta. What about you? I wish I could be up there for Christmas, especially now that my dad lost his job two days before Christmas.

I was born and raised on Long Island- suffolk county and I went to college in Connecticut. I met FH, found a job, got engaged, bought a house, and here we are... I would not move back to Long Island... lots of reasons, although growing up there was wonderful! I to be honest, I like CT but I am not so sure I want to stay here either.

went to school at RIT, so very familiar with henrietta!!!! then after school i lived downtown in the park ave area...so much fun, i miss it down there!!!

Long Island, Poughkeepsie, Staten Island, and Brooklyn.

lived in the Bronx from 2000-2002
2002-2005 lived in an apartment in CT
2005 - present own house in CT

i love CT- its so close to everything yet far away enough. until our quality of life on LI overrides our present situation, we will be in CT for a while

My family is from NJ! I have to agree!
