I grew up in California and then moved to Pennsylvania. Lived in Annapolis, MD and NYC during summers in college (went to college in VA) and then moved to NYC. We will eventually move to Jersey, where FH is from....I am getting a little tired of the city.

I grew up in West Hempstead and FH grew up in Mississippi. We both lived in Rosedale Queens together for 2 years and now we're living in Hempstead together. We are currently looking at a Home in Georgia. Wish us luck

Both lived on Long Island all our lives. We are hoping to move to New Hampshire after the wedding, we hate it here!

I loved in Va till i was 10 years old then moved here to LI new york. i love it here.

Lived on LI until I was 16, then my dad transferred to FL and we have been in Palm Bch Cty ever since. Unfortunately,I hate it here. FH is from Seattle, family lives in Alaska. We met when he came down here to finish his Marine Bio degree. We're moving to Seattle next month. I can't wait. We can get so much more for our money out there than in FL and the property taxes are alot less, so is the homeowners ins. No hurricanes either!! I love LI and come back often to visit my family who I miss dearly, but we can't afford to live on LI.

Born and raised in NYC and moved to Long Island when I was 12 and been here ever since, with teh exception of 4 years in Illinois for undergrad. FH and I are thinking of moving to Jersey border after marriage though. he worsk there and i am doing postgrad work at a college in Manhattan. I love Long Island and would love to eventually settle here, but I agree it IS very expensive.

I was born and raised in Maryland, just outside of Washington, D.C. I lived in Boston while I was in college. Then, I moved to Brooklyn for law school. I now live in the basement apartment of my FI's family's house in Queens (Maspeth) while we save money for a house on LI. It's extremely frustrating. LI is nice, but I would love to be somewhere that is less crowded and a bit slower.

I was born in Queens, lived in Israel for 10 yrs, moved back here when I was almost a teen and have been here ever since.

my DH on the other hand, he's lived ALL over! he was born in the Azores (on a military base), grew up in TX (but also lived in AL, GA, NC). he also lived in OH, lived in Czech Republic for a year, lived in MI and WI.

now he lives on LI with me

I lived in Northern Idaho on the border of Canada, I lived in Nevada on the border of Utah, and I have lived upstate NY. I honestly love all those places better than here

Pollution seems minimal, for example litter
Speed limit is faster and theres RARELY traffic
People seem more friendly

AND of course the biggest reason

Things were SOOOO much cheaper

In Nevada I rented a house on 4 acres with horse stables. 4 bedroom house, skylights, stand up shower seperate from a jacuzzi tub (opposite sides of the bathroom) there were his and hers sinks etc... My closet was the size of a small bedroom here, included washer/dryer, dining room, HUGE HUGE living room with cathedral ceilings and it all cost me a whole $700 a month! There were so many horses on my street, I saw snow capped mountains from my windows.. Just gorgeous, so laid back, just so ahhhhh


In Idaho I had a really nice 2 bedroom, all brand new everything for $400 a month! I also rented a 2 bedroom house in Idaho for $400 with a yard.

I mean come on! It is so depressing here! My husband and I both have professional jobs, I have my masters degree and we really can not afford a house! Its terrible!!!!!!

ETA: I lived here my whole life except for 97 - 02, When I was in college and then moved out west. As of 02 I am baaack

I was born and raised in Sag Harbor. Then went to college in Philly. When I dropped out of there I moved to Hawaii. Lived on Oahu and then on Kauai. Then I lived in Santa Cruz, California and then Boulder, Colorado and after all that....

I came right back where I started from...

Sag Harbor and I love it

we've both lived on LI since forever, but we plan to move right after the wedding. its simply to expensive to here. plus, i want to go into guidance counseling and there aren't any jobs in the field available on LI . soooo, i am in the process of applying to grad schools in NC and hopefully we can move in aug, right before the program starts (all pending admission into 1 out of the 5 programs am applying to!). his parents bought a townhome in raleigh and we have family friends in charlotte, so we wont be completely alone if we live in driving distance from one of them. we want to be able to afford a beautiful home to raise a family in...not spend a massive amount on a crappy house here on LI. i don't know how people do it here, i really don't. ~lacey
