My friends are coming into town and have never been to the city... about 10 girls.. and we want to get really dressed up and have a blast!

reservations are required - but for my MOH's bachelorette party last year - we had an amazing time at the Awesome 80's Prom....and you can hang out and dance in the club afterwards!

yes i like the culture club too, but they are closed, not sure when they are opening again
I wanted to hit up some really classy bars, nothing crazy expensive but maybe someone knows of a secret hideaway that is just fun...
I feel the city is full of them, but no one ever talks about it! ( like they want to keep it to themselves!)

Mangia e bevi for dinner and drinks. It is sooo fun. all girl atomopshere...and cute music. Everyone gets up on their chairs to dance.

There's a fun 80's bar called the Joshua Tree. They play the music videos with the music. Lots of fun.

It sounds like you want to dress up and go to a nice dinner/bar/lounge. I would suggest dinner at La Bottega or Matsuri in the Maritime hotel. You can always go for drinks afterwards in the hotel which is fun. You can also do dinner at Schiller's on the Lower East side and go for cocktails at the Rivington hotel which is alot of fun. Balthazar is yummy for dinner as well and you can go to the Spring Street Lounge which is not far from there.

I was also going to suggest rivington hotel they have a lounge called THor
Other places that are a little more dressy and what you're looking for are: the W hotel but drinks are pricey which any hotel they will be a little bit more, alot of people love the W hotel but the upstairs lounge was a bit TOO quiet for me, they do have a club downstairs. Gansevoort hotel. Then theres the Pink Elephant but just keep in mind that their door policy is VERY strict and they can be A**holes about who they let in and are very picky.
For dinner depends on what type of food you want. Buddha bar has a fun atmosphere its very lively. Tao or buddakhan also but both pricey. You said you want something a bit more hidden, maybe try this place in the meat packing district called 'APT' its in a building in an apartment and it is harder to find but the food is supposed to be real good and great atmosphere. Ninja is a very different dining experience just a cool atmosphere and definitely not something you would experience elsewhere.

In meatpacking district. Very chic - no sign or indication its there.
Ok so I am debating between hitting up 9th ave ( mangia e bevi , Joshua Tree, etc) or doing meatpakcing area... love gansevort and buddah bar, maritime is great too!!!
which would you ladies prefer for a night on the town with the girls?

Personally, I would prefer the Gansevoort/Maritime or meatpacking! Mangia e Bevi, though I've never been, seems to be more of a bachelorette destination. I've never been to Joshua Tree but it's always packed and it looks kind of like a sports bar to me... IMO...(FH lived in the area and I never went because it looked super packed all the time!)

I agree...I've been to joshua bar and its a regular type bar, definitely nothing you should get too dressed up for. If i was in the mood to wear jeans and a shirt and more of a casual night then i would go to joshua tree...If i wanted to get all dolled up then i would go to the meatpacking district and go to places like gansevoort, 230 5th is a GORGEOUS place, pink elephant or some spot around there. Buddha bar the decor is gorgeous...hold on ill put up pics in here of the places to give you a better idea

i actually told fh about the place essex yesterday bc he received an email about one of his favorite clothing brands opening up its flagship store downtown, the one in tokyo was huge and im sure pharrell will do something big but we want to check it out and i said Ooo if we go theres this place we can go to for brunch so hopefully we'll get to go
