Where is everyone going on thir honeymoon?
A few weeks ago someone posted the question re: date and location of wedding, I liked finding out more about everyone. So here is a new "get to know you" subject: We are getting married in March and we are going to go to New Orleans for a few days and then taking a cruise to Alaska in June or July. Where is everyone else planning to go/hoping to go/thinking of going????? -Elizabeth :-)
I haven't been to the other islands - -but I would suggest that you also call the Chamber of Commerce for each island, they will send you brochures and inform you if there are any events or festivals going on during your stay.

We are going on the Disney Cruise. Four days on land and then 3 on the ship. Can't wait! Only two more weeks!!!!
There is a book called "Locations" and it is a magazine style listing of many many (you guessed it) locations on Long Island (and some in Queens, Brooklyn etc too)..shows some pertinent info - amount of people it can hold, sample menus, price range, if you can have ceremony there etc. I have a 1999 one lying around. Since I have my place already, you are welcome to it. Email me your address privately and I will send it to you. Good luck :-) -Elizabeth

Hi - We're getting married on September 29, 2000 and are taking a Royal Carribean Cruise to St. Thomas, St. Maarten, and the Bahamas. (Leaving from ft. Lauderdale) We both can't wait...
Dear Jeannine, There are many factors involved, i.e. budget, importance of photography to you, personal artistic sensibility, etc. It depends which style of photography appeals to you. Traditional photography means that there are a certain number of pictures that are "traditionally" taken at every wedding. Make sure that the studio provides the quality that you desire in the price range that you can afford. If you care about a personal relationship with your photographer, than make sure you know who's pictures you are looking at and be sure to meet the photographer before the wedding. To me, one of the most important aspects of choosing a photographer is your rapport with the people you will be working with. Most studios take the same number of photos at each wedding. See if you can determine how many proofs are traditionally taken (an average of 200-500). How do you feel about posing? Do you prefer spending a long time posing for formal portraits (often as long as two hours) or would you rather be enjoying your party and interactions with guests. Do you like black + white? The best way to do black + white pictures is with black + white film + separate cameras already loaded with that film. Do you mind posing for more pictures during the reception?
The alternative is so-called photojournalistic wedding photography, which has come into vogue in the past 2-3 years and has become the latest fad, or trend (I've been doing this style for 10+ years) Photojournalism implies taking many pictures in a spontaneous, candid way. That means an average of 500-1000 pictures. It is best done with two photographers (one doing formal, traditional usually in color; while the second photographer does all candid, usually in black + white.) If you like this style, then make sure that every album you look at looks different and reflects the personalities of the people being photographed. Every wedding needs to be different. Formal portraits are generally done more quickly (less than an hour) The photographers need to be more unobtrusive and not interrupt you as much. Most studios are now offering aspects of this approach as an add-on. Ask to see sample albums from years ago to check out how long they've been using this approach, or if it is relatively new to the studio. The best way to be sure that they are being spontaneous in their approach is whether or not they charge for each picture exposed. If they don't, and say that "unlimited" pictures are included, than you can be sure they are working within a set budget that includes a certain limit on film and processing costs. If they tell you that the best way to do black + white is by using color film and then printing in black + white, (the best of both worlds!) then that means they are using one camera and one photographer and do not have the flexibility to work both mediums (and you're likely to print maybe a few in black + white-not hundreds.) This style generally costs more, since there are more proofs and two photographers.

I think we have it narrowed down to 7-nights in Aruba and 4-nights in Key West. (it was so much more affordable than we thought! :):)) I had to watch where I went because I am getting married in January and not everywhere is warm during that time. After a winter wedding, I am going on a honeymoon where there is SUN AND WARMTH!!!!!

We're getting married June 4th (less than 6 weeks) and leaving for California on the 6th. 12 days driving up the coast from LA to San Fran. Anyone with ideas on specific things we "must do"?
Not everyone has the same skin. I just wanted to share a helpful hint of my own for people having problems with lightening scars. I would not recommend putting vit. E on a pimple--just the aftermath.........
Where is everyone going on thir honeymoon?
You must go to Santa Barbara. We went last year on vacation to LA and did a day trip to Santa Barbara. It was absolutelty beautiful!!! Drive up the Pacific Coast. It was great. I am going to look for our directions to the Hollywood sign. We have friends that live out there and we found the best directions to get as close as you can to the sign. The pictures came out great!! If I find them I will email them to you privately. California was a great vacation!!!!
Any help or advice would be appreciated.

17 mile drive in Carmel/Monterey is suppose to be gorgeous. Hearst Castle at San Simeon also. Can you go to Catalina Island before you head north? We are going to CA next month, planned prior to starting wedding plans and we are going to check out 17 mile drive. Other than that we will be in SF and above. Sounds nice, take the scenic route & enjoy.
Any help or advice would be appreciated.

We still haven't decided on a destination. Hopefully I'll get some great ideas from the board.

Is this your first cruise. I just got back from my cruise ( and honeymoon). I have good news, I heard that royal carribean was the best cruise line for honeymooners. Lots of fun things and there is a good mix of ages. I also heard that the staff was a lot of fun. I hope you enjoy.
Also, does your cruise line suggest cruises. I know that we were able to book our tours while we were ont he cruise. We went on mostly bus tours and that was a mistake. I would definately try to mix it up a bit. A few people that we ate diner with did not book the tours throught the cruise line and some tours worked and some did not so be careful.
Also, every night our television had a repeating program with the cruise director telling us the best places to see on each island. We also received a map and a pamphlet telling us about each island (history, what to do, shopping, eating.....).

Where is everyone going on thir honeymoon?
Anne, does Royal Carribean have a website? We're considering a cruise and I've heard great about this cruise line? Thanks -- Nicole
If you are into the extra little touches, you can go to http://www.stampsonline.com and order special stamps for your invitations - to go with your theme, hobbies, or simply the LOVE stamps. I wouldn't have thought of this had I not read it somewhere so I pass it on here. :-)
I will let you know what I decide. -Elizabeth

Lori,
Where are you staying in Key West? We're looking into that ourselves...you can e-mail me privately if you'd rather not have everyone know....the earlier post of people looking on-line for when you leave to rob your house has me a little rattled....

Where is everyone going on thir honeymoon?
I am getting married Sept 10. We are going to Hawaii - Oahu (Outrigger) for 2 nights, Hyatt Kauai (3 nights) and Hyatt Maui for (5 nights). I heard that the Hyatt in Kauai and Maui is the best spot for honeymooners.
Second, as some of you already know from the previous posting, I want to honor my deceased mother by having pink roses (her favorite rose) in the bouquets. The question I have is that my bridesmaid's dresses are aqua color and I am not sure what color combination I could use with pink roses that would complement the aqua color.
Any suggestions ladies?

Getting married on May 27th, leaving at 7am on the 28th to Sandals in Antigua, for 6 nights.
Buy the little clear address labels (by Avery or any other maker) Print out your names and date and stick them on the bottles. Then tie a ribbon, either in your colors or white, around the top. It looks nice, better than plain and cheaper than the fancy bubble bottles.
It's important to remember that there is a LOT of hype out there, and people are being told all kinds of misinformation that they believe. As far as I know, I've been doing this style longer than any other studio that I know of on Long Island (10+ years), and I have a pretty good sense of what works and what doesn't and what is genuine and what is an add-on. By all means, do your research (if you take this subject seriously) and don't believe anyone (including myself.) If you see a difference in the issues that I've addressed, than you'll know how to proceed. If you don't see a difference, than of course it makes sense to save your money and believe what they tell you (ONLY if it doesn't make a difference!)
