Okay I need to know for sanity reasons - this is not a post to dig or get into your personal finances. I realize most of you make more money then certain people on this board but I want to know how you affording a wedding and honeymoon and some of you have a house or still buying a house?

We are paying for the HM ourselves (we are paying for the whole thing ourselves). We are sooooo broke!!!!!! OMG this is horrible.

We didn't book yet... But I'm thinking we'll use AMEX to pay & get points and then pay off w/ cash either from wedding savings or cash gifts from wedding....

thankfully FIL'S are helping us out...
im also using my AmEx for points now... puttign little things here and there on it so it can help with any little thing.

Thankfully my ffil has a timesahre and offered to let us use it (Aruba) and he even paid for our airfair. Thanks FFIL

Well FH and I are paying for our wedding ourselves...so his grandma wanted to help out with the honeymoon...so she gave us a little more than 1/2 of what it is going to cost in cash which was nice because I used my Dad's AMEX card and gave him the money FH's grandma gave us so he could pay it off but my Dad said he would give us the points from the card for the fligths since we are giving him the money to pay it off since it's our expense.
So I am lucky enough to have FH's grandma to help out she is soo sweet and I am happy my Dad doesnt mind us putting it on his card and getting the points.
ETA: Then the rest of what is costs we will use our wedding fund money to pay it off...we have an ING account and it is wonderful in interest but killing me in my taxes since we put alot of money in at a time and my name is on it haha

You're not alone we are in the same boat!!!! IT ***** but I know it will all be worth it! One thing though is I refuse to be in CC debt for the wedding so I am trying really hard to not do the CC thing.

well originally we planned on going to the cheapest place we could find b/c we are paying for everything by ourselves ......i was fine with the idea that we were probably going to end up somewhere (well the cheapest hotel) in Mexico, figuring that we could spend the least amount of $$ there - FH and I never really went on a real vacation anyway, so going anywhere with him, as husband and wife for the first time would be WONDERFUL and it totally didnt mattter to me where we went - we always use our vacation to visit my family - which really isnt a vacation at all Then out of nowhere FH's Aunt asked us if we'd like to use her timeshare in Aruba for a week for our HM as a wedding gift.....sooooo that is what we are going to do instead! We'll pay for airfare and then our expenses like dinner, drinks and activities - we have a feeling we will spend about 3K - which we are going to try and save before the wedding since we are hoping to have everything wedding related paid is CASH! We really got lucky with Aruba and I am totally excited

My FH works for the Federal Gov't and starting a new 401K with them - he has his own 401k saving plan with All State but can have both, they won't allow it. So sadly he has to close the other one and give me all the money and that is what we are using to pay for our honeymoon

We are going to save most of any monetary gifts from the wedding to use for our honeymoon & any extra we need - we will start saving. We are waiting to take our honeymoon until 9 months after the wedding.
We're doing a 2 week 'trip of a lifetime' type thing to Europe....Oktoberfest in Germany, London, Dublin, Paris, etc....

We're lucky since our parents are helping with the wedding so our major expense is the HM and we are totally splurging.
We also opened an ING account (much higher interest rates than banks) and are putting money away every paycheck. We're hoping to use points to cover some of the expenses as well.
ETA we're waiting a few months for our actual HM. We're going away for a couple of days after the wedding but nothing crazy. We haven't booked it yet since we're waiting on prices to drop.
FH and I opened an account through ING as well. It's awesome as it does have a high interest rate! We are paying for the bulk of the wedding ourselves - as well as the HM! Don't ask how - but we are! LOL We just keep saving and saving and spending and spending!

My parents are paying for the hall, my dress, and flowers..which is a huge help! we have the money for our honeymoon by saving in out joint account and from our eparty

Up to this point, I dont think we are gonna be able to go on one. I opened an Ing Direct bank account but I doubt theres gonna be enough saved. FH also has some money coming in from a lawsuit, so if that comes in time, we may be able to go. For now Im waiting for a man to offer me an indecent proposal...

we included the HM in our budget and saved up for it
our wedding AND HM will be paid 100% in cash the day of the wedding - we will return with NO debt and our wedding gifts will start our home fund
