think it is fine to start registering any time, but I suggest you talk to the bridal registry people at the store you choose and tell them when your wedding it. Ask them if they suggest holding off on certain items. Sometimes, certain items change depending on the season or are discontinued and it can get a little annoying. The people from the bridal registry department should be able to advise you on what to wait on and what is fine to register for ahead of time. Also, ask them if you receive a notification from the store when something on your registry is discontinued, so you know to change it on your registry. Certain stores are MUCH better about this then others and that may impact where you register or when you register at a certain store.
I registered really early and so far my flatware choices have been discontinued twice!! I just couldn't believe that the new set I chose after the first was discontinued, got discontinued also! Apparently, I have weird taste, since no one else seems to be buying the flatware I choose. Anyway, I can't stand to look at another fork, so I am just not dealing with it until much closer to the wedding. The thought of picking another pattern now and having it discontinued again is most unappealing. I even told FH to forget it - we will eat with plastic!
Hope this helps! All in all it is a fun process. And doing it in advance lets you have time to really play around before you decide what you want on your final list.

one bride on here recommended:
I would highly suggest Crate and Barrel. They do a thing once a month where they close the store on Sunday Mornings and invite only engaged couples to register. It was so much fun. They had tons of food out and was so easy. I think Fortunoffs does it too..

kohls, macys, & BBB
or
Kohls, macys and target??
i know everytime i go into BBB to buy of a registry i get soooo agrrevated! which do you girls think is better?
Well most people register at more than one place, i would say the average is 3 places. So do all of them...It gives your guests more options, this way they can pick something that is closest to them. For now I just registered at BBB, i plan on registering at 2 other places later on.

Stay away from Target...My good friend used them and had NOTHING but NIGHTMARES dealing with them. They have a TERRIBLE return policy including if you get duplicates. For example, she received two waffle irons so when she returned one they gave her a store credit. Ok, fine. When she went to use it they told her she could only use it in the 'small appliance' section but by that point they had received everything they registered for in that section. Too bad was the reply she got, it cannot be put towards another department. After MONTHS of fighting with them, they finally let her use it on other things! It was really ridiculous.

No problem, I'd hate to see someone else have to go through what she did. It was a disaster.
Oh and yes, BBB has a FANTASTIC return policy. They give cash in return and you don't need a receipt! In hind sight I would have registered there.

Re: where should i register?
I have registered at BBB..FH and I have been there twice and we still aren't done with registering.
QUESTION: My mom said that I can register for furniture...I think that it was a hint about my parents and other family members.
Old Italian tradition in my family atleast...brides family pay for wedding , males family buys the furniture for the house....
Do any furniture places (Ethan Allen or Thmasville) have a registry?

Re: where should i register?
I had issues with Kohls. Lots of people shopped there, but they messed up my registry more than once. I had other peoples stuff on my registry one day. I went to the store and put a lot of stuff on and it didn't go on the registry. My aunt got me the comforter set and forgot to tell them to take it off. When she called them they took it completely off of the registry. My MIL got it for me. What an embarassing thing when two people give you the same gift.

Fortunoffs and BBB! I lovvveeee both stores! I can spend hours in them!
Kohls is nice too, but they always seem to be out of things. Their prices are alittle better though.
