Where were you when the lights went out & what did you do all night?

I was getting my nails done, left without polish on, had candle light (not by choice) dinner with John, and then my neighbors & I had a 'candle' party outside out homes. We must have had the best smelling block in Queens with all my Yankee Candles lit!
Sad news is 3 of my fish died I am so sad

I was at work, in the middle of getting a tax return done, that is due today!!!
I left early, and luckily it only took me 20 minutes to get home, since I beat all of the other traffic.
When I got home we ate dinner outside, and then we went for a drive, so we could have a/c. I also finished tieing the ribbons for my rehersal dinner invites and menus.

I was at work at Rock Ctr and had to walk all tthe way to Park Slope Brooklyn. Four hours later and many blisters on my feet later, I was finally with hubby

I was at work, actually on my way out to a dentist appointment. Thought the outage was my office, so I left for it. Discovered it wasn't
Did get my stitches out in the dentist office though (by window light!). Got home and had a BBQ by candle light with hubby. We took a walk around the neighborhood and came home and got busy
We had power back by 9:30 p.m. and then lost it from 2-5 a.m. I'm back at work now and everything is up and running. Traffic lights were out though.

I just posted my story on the BHB board because I was at my first dress fitting! I said it was a sign from God that the sight of me in a wedding dress plunged millions into darkness! I'm sorry to hear about your fishies. I was worried about mine, too. I'm in Da Bronx and we got power back on by about 8:30 so it wasn't so bad.

I was on my way home from the beach on the phone with FH.
We had a bbq at my house, then FH's power went back on at about 8pm so I went there and we watched DVDs. Came home to a sweltering house (was so worried about my cat) and slept until I got power back.....

Im so sorry about your fish! I was home, my fiance came home a few minutes later, we had a minifridge full of beer that needed to be drank before they got warm, we had batteries for the radio so we could find out what the hell was going on, and we had a place down the street with power so we were able to eat. We sat oustide, drank and ate and it was great until nighttime came, then it wsa massively HOT, we finally went to the truck, put teh seats down and turned the Ac on, my fiance snored, my cat screamed because she hates being in the car and there were animalsl nearby, I just laid there. Our power finally came on at 2:30 am. Ill probably sleep all day to catch up. Jenybaby..Im really sorry about your fish!!

Spel..you are so lucky that your power stayed on..we didnt have any for about 10 hours! Everyone I know didnt have power..you got LUCKY!!!!!!Im jealous!!

I was with my BF at her Gyno visit (I was watching her 5 month old)and the lights were flickering then they went out I kept wondering if she was in stirrups being examined Luckily she wasnt Last night Rick & I hung out with our neighbors .We bbq'd,drank,made a bon fire

I didn't really get what was going on...(I'm in CA)...but I was talking to some people on AIM and then everyone logged off...I thought nobody liked me anymore then I looked at my list and saw all my NY friends were off...so I turned on MSNBC

I was at home watching tv. When everything went out it was about 4:10pm so it was still sunny. So I picked proofs for ou wedding album. My hubby came home a bit later. We drove to my Aunts to make sure she was fine. Then went home & made dinner & had it by candlelight. Then we just sat around sweating. Then our son went to sleep around 9:15 so we went to bed about 9:30pm. We didn't get electricity back until 7:00am.
My husband just called he's working in Bellerose (Queens) & they STILL don't have electricity!!

I was at work, typing away, busy busy busy and everything dimmed....then went on....then dimmed ..then out!! 3 people were stuck in the elevator and we eventually evacuated down the stairs. I walked to the east side to meet FH and we drove into Queens (no traffic on the LIE - lol! it was freaky!) Then drove back to Jersey around 11..
Jenn sorry about the fish....I was worried about mine too but thankfully they all lived

I was at the Peddle Pushers in Roslyn eating my Chicken Teryaki - and the dumb waitress told us it was just that block so we stayed and ate. Took 2 hours to get from Roslyn to Garden City
That and they couldn't refil my soda because it was electric!!!!
On the way to Garden City - my cousin was behind us and she ran out of gas. Had to leave her car in a parking lot near the mal We both ended up sleeping at my other aunts house lol FUN TIMES

I was sitting on the floor in front of my stereo, just starting to listen to a new CD I bought. (I was taking an extended lunch break... ).
While it was still light, I trimmed back all the impatiens and petunias in my flower boxes, and then when it got dark, I lit some candles and read until around 11:30 when we got our power back. Also listened to the radio.
Jenn, I'm so sorry about your fish!
I have goldfish too! I have one 5 1/2 inch comet and two baby butterfly koi in a 29 gallon tank. One of the koi is ready to graduate to my friend's pond. The temperature crept up to 86+. I was SO worried they would die. I was just about to take out a bucket or two of water and replace it with slightly cooler, fresher water, when the power came on.
The FIRST thing I always think of when we lose power is my FISH! The comet is my fav. He's so big and pretty. Awwwww, I'm so sorry about Pippy.
