Keep in mind that the kitchen is not finished so I just faked the backsplash and the granite (the stove will be in there too which has a black top) and there will be more molding, etc.. but you get the idea:
A red on the walls with copper paint on the ceilings:
A green on the walls with white on the ceiling:
Terracotta with a beigey coordinate on the ceiling:
I love the first one...I think it may not make the room look bigger...but I just think it has such a warm tone...and it looks so great with the cabinets...which look SO great on their own!!!

Luke likes the red in the kitchen (dont ask me why he doesnt like it in the living room - i think he does like and he just wont admit it)
I like the red the best too but Im afraid I might get sick of so much red. I dont care if it makes the room looks smaller (which I dont really think is true anyway) but i dont want to be bored.

I do like the first one. I do not like th green with it. It is really starting to come a long nice. Cant wait to see the final results
does your kitchen run into the living room? then you could justify all the red...

Stef I like the first one. I have a Cherry Dining room Set and I have a green color sort of like the one you put in here and I get compliments on how well the two look together. I think though the first one might look better with the copper tiles.

I have to vote for #2...I love that green color...that's the color I plan on doing my dining room...when our house is ready!!
