Which color for kitchen?

Is the back splash going to be that color?

I love the red with the cabinets but with not the backsplash.

The backsplash is copper...not a paint, the metal.

Another vote for the red.

I like the terracotta a whole lot - just not with the beigey ceiling. I think I'd like it more with the copper ceiling. Just an overall warm feeling - with some contrast since the colors are a few shades different.

I like the way # 3 and 4 bring out the orangey-rusty veins in the coutertop...

Then I would go with the terra cotta color - between the granite, stainless, copper and wood, I would hesitate to bring another color into the mix. The terra cotta will look warm with the back splash and pulls color out of the granite.

I like the red because from what it looks like, the warm colors definitely mesh better with the cabinets but I could see you in the long run getting sick of red. If you thought that was the case, I would go completely opposite and go neutral (ecru, white, tan, etc.) so it won't get old.

I definitely dont want to do a white or a tan. I dont do white (plus white doesnt really do anything for that room ..i know b/c its white now with all the skim coat). I have tan all over my house so Im already bored of that.

Then what about another 'deep' color?
Burgundy/marroon/plum/orange/blue?

I agree that white does nothing for a room.

Which way are you leaning?

Stacey: I still like red the best but I think I might like the orangy color (maybe something in between the terra cota and the orange I posted). The red I would use would be pretty rich..not blood red. No blue or purple..that doesnt work with the warm colors in the room already and I dont want to add another tone.

I have that terracota color in my den and i love it but the red is awesome too! They say red increases appetite if you do a search on what colors mean for rooms, pretty interesting.

I would paint the wall in a rich gold tone, and have the appliances and accessories in red. I feel the golden color will brighten the room and open it up more. Another trick is to paint the ceiting the same color to make the eye look uo visually.

2Untamed: Not sure where you get a red stove but my appliances are stainless. No changing that :D

I originally thought a gold tone but I put that in the photo and it looked aweful. So anyting in the yellow family is out. Its too 'McDonalds' with the red toned wood.

I like the terracotta color, or the red. My kitchen is red (but VERY outdated), but I am currently in the process of remodeling it and painting it an orange-y apricot color, to brighten it up. (It is VERY small). Good luck!!

I vote for RED...but, I am biased...we are painting our kitchen red, too!

Re: Which color for kitchen?

Sorry for the confusion, what I meant was.......
A warm rich deep yellow tone on the walls, (Not glittery gold) instead a jewltone gold - lighter than the color you show on the ceiling. And by appliances, I meant, A mixer, ceramic canisters for the counter tops, perhaps some wall hangings with all the main colors (red, brown, gold), along with placemates to match, some of those oil and vegtables filled-cooking bottles, such as olive oil with red cooking peppers in them, or even colored dried raviolies in decorative bottles etc.
