Who didn't do an engagement party? Did pp know?

If you didn't do an engagement party, did people still find out about your engagement through the grapevine??

When I would ask my dad if so and so knows or said anything he would say 'That's why you have an engagement party' But we didn't want one.

I didn't want one, I think it is a bit much asking for gifts all the time.

I am planning on sending out Save-the-dates.

I feel engagement annoucements are also asking for gifts. I just want to let people know we are engaged and when they should plan for.

We didn't do one either. Just send an email to friends or indeed save the date will do.

We are struggling just to afford the wedding itself, let alone the engagement party LOL. There is no way we can afford to have 2 separate parties. I just tell the people that matter.

We didn't have one, and everyone seems to have heard about our engagement through the grapevine.

fh's mom ordered us engagement announcements, since there were people in his family from OOT that didn't know. The rest was just word of mouth and also we sent std's about 8 months before.

We didn't have one. I don't think it's needed. Most of my close family found out within the same week that we got engaged, thanks to my mom.
As far as friends, they find out through facebook or myspace.

you can send STDs, let friends and family spread the word, and you can put it on facebook

We didn't do an e-party because we got engaged in December '07 and our wedding is this July. The dates were too close. We sent out save-the-dates for our wedding though.

Nope, no E-party.....people find out through the grapevine.....and we called or sent out emails to close family/friends

i wanted one, FH thought they were tacky because you have your shower and the wedding gift - we just sent out our STDs ASAP and the congrats cards etc started pouring in - no need to give an unneeded expense..

The night we got engaged into the next day I called all of my 19 aunts and uncles and too many friends and cousins to count! I lost my voice two days later!

We had a very small engagement party with just my family and bridal party. I wanted FMIL to meet the rest of my family

I didn't have one. I didn't want one so my family spead the word to everyone they know and to the rest of my family. Even now some people are finding out. Its nice to hear congrats again and again lol

I didn't do an e-party. I didn't want people to feel like they had to buy another gift. Wedding and showers are enough I didn't want to ask people to take on another expense. Family will find out through the family tree and close friends will know. Other than that they can find out with the STD or the invite.

We didn't have one, at least not officially. We did have a party the day we got engaged because it was my bday and part of the surprise. just our immediate families were there.

IMO you either have an engagement party or a shower. I chose the shower. We made save the dates but didn't send them out- don't ask me why!

we did not have one- we were living together for 4 years now so-why-- everyone new it was just a matter of time for us and when we did it, then we just sent out std.
