If you didn't do an engagement party, did people still find out about your engagement through the grapevine??
When I would ask my dad if so and so knows or said anything he would say 'That's why you have an engagement party' But we didn't want one.

We had one 1/2 year after we got engaged (in conjunction with my birthday) and we got married 4 years later. But we knew that we'd have a long engagement

No e-party here. Honestly, I didn't even think people had them anymore until I signed up on LiWeddings.

We had one. My parents wanted to throw us one so that the families could meet.
I don't think it's necessary or even the norm, lots of people don't. we're just a partying family.
We had ours about 4 months after we got engaged...everyone knew before the got the invites though. We called all the close relatives that weekend and the rest was word of mouth!

didn't have one---for a lot of people we just sent an email for friends and family and made phone calls.
i don't think you need an e-party to let people know you're engaged---seems much easier (& cheaper) to just call folks

I didnt have an e-party and people still knew. News like that travels real fast. Then we sent the STD's but by then everyone on our glist knew we were engaged.

i didn't have one~ we just had a family BBQ and that's how our relatives found out. but they didn't bring any gifts or anything.

We didn't do one..and everyone knew. We also sent STD's when we set the date so it's fine. You don't need an engagement party.

I am sure there are people in my fam that dont know we're engaged but thats fine.... if they are that distant not to know, who cares?!!? i too dont believe in getting gifts at 3 diff points for the same event so we didnt have one...
dont let anyone pressure you into spending money on something you dont want to spend $ on!

I didn't have one either... The most important people found out right away from me or FH directly... I plan on sending out save the dates in case we left out anyone but I am pretty sure everyone knows by now!!
