I will be changing mine-I don't mind but, I feel bad because my dad has two daughters so no one will carry on my maiden name :(

I did take my husbands last name and I love that but I also miss my maiden name!!

I'm going to change my name, but for awhile I considered not changing because of professional reasons. I'm graduating law school this spring, and my degree will have my current last name. I'll be sworn into the bar with my current last name and when I start a job I'll be known to clients with my current last name. But I've decided to change because it is important to my FH. I'm just going to make my current last name my middle name since I don't have one so I dont have to give up my last name entirely.

I'm changing it -- I'm a traditionalist!! That's not to say that I won't be a little sad. But, on the plus side, FH has a much easier name to pronounce. I definitely won't miss people butchering my name anymore

think it's crap, but wht can you do? If it's really important to him, and will cause problems, and it won't kill you to do, then change it.

I am changing my name, but I do not think there is anything wrong with NOT changing your name. It should be a decision each person needs to make based on what they are comfortable with. Neither is right or wrong!

Sort of -- I'm either hyphenating or using my last name as my middle name.

I am.

My name now is the name of a bird... FH's is the name of a fish. So, now I'm a bird, but soon I'll be a fish

I am going to hyphenate my name- at least in the beginning. My father has no sons and therefore, noone to carry on the last name. My last name is really important to me and my identity. FH has no problems with me hyphenating or not changing my name. I think I will change it completely when we have children. But right now I am going to hyphenate. FH even offered to change his last name to mine, but then he realized he would be my father- both have the same first name!

For now, I will take FI's name socially but keep my name for business. It will be hard for me to just totally lose my last name all of a sudden so I think this is a good solution for me.

I'm totally torn. I'm the last of my extended family to get married and there are no sons to carry it on. While both my FH and I have very similar last names, I REALLY prefer mine! I'm sure I will eventually have to change, but in the beginning I will keep mine both privately and professionally.

Our neighbors already call him Mr. (my last name) because he moved in to my home.

I still have to do it. I think it's important for us to have the same last name when we have children but I think I have decided to just add his name to mine. I'll be Mrs. First Middle Maiden His name. It's a mouthful, but it is really important to me that I keep my Last name in there as well as my middle. I figure eventually, I will be known as Mrs. Hisname but legally, have mine in there. DH agrees with me

I am taking FH's name. But my parents have 3 daughters and there is no one in the family to carry on our last name which is upsetting
