Re: Who is going to miss their last name?
I am going to miss my last name, my mom and dad have passed and we ( my sister and I ) are the last to have the name, my sister kept hers professionally, I am taking his name, I am trying to ease into it, at the cleaners I use his last name, etc.

I am soo tired of people mis pronouncing my name for the past 26 years That I can't wait to take my FH's last name. It is so nice and easy.

Re: Who is going to miss their last name?
I began feeling like I would really miss my name and then decided that I could just keep it and use the hyphen. My FH has no objections and it makes me feel much better.

Did anyone see that movie Saving Silverman? The girl was going to make her FH take her last name. So, for those of you who want to keep your names, tell FH to take your last name..... I wonder what their reactions would be.

Boop, I did suggest to to FH! He squirmed in his seat for a minute! Then he said, please don't castrate me-you can keep your name, that's fine, but I'm keeping mine! He He, I was only kidding, but I'm not sure he knew that (and I am keeping mine:)

Re: Who is going to miss their last name?
I'm with CP0329. I am keeping my last name. It's a part of who I am. Yes, I am joining him in marriage, and we will form a union, but I can still be me. I've been me for the last 27 years, I'll still be me after too. If one more person tries to convince me I should change my name, I'll explode. I do what I think is right for me, I don't argue when others do what they think is right for them.
Besides, no one has asked FH is he is chaning HIS name!

I would miss it SO MUCH!!! I am still deciding though what to do. Might actually keep it. FH is fine with either decision. He knows how i feel. We'll see what happens. Not worrying about it til afterwards!!

Re: Who is going to miss their last name?
I guess I will miss it a little, my name kinda has a flow to it...and my new last name sounds nice but doesn't 'flow' like my old one. And my signature looks so weird! Good thing about the new one is that it is short and sweet!

Re: Who is going to miss their last name?
Altho I've always gotten compliments on my name, I won't miss except that its a lot shorter than my married name will be, so writing it out will take longer but that's about it. Oh yeah his name is very common & I'm going from the beginning of the alphabet to the end, that really sux but oh well

I will definitely miss my last name! I am 3/4 Irish and have the map of Ireland all over my face, but I'm gaining an Italian last name. It feels like I'm giving up my heritage.

Re: Who is going to miss their last name?
I am already in mourning for my last name and I am not even married yet I have a first name no one can spell correctly- my only saving grace has been my last name. Well, lucky me, no one spells FHs last name right either, so I will be victimized by wrong spellers and pronounciation for the rest of my life. Good thing hes such a great guy.
I have no brothers, but plan on making my last name a middle name for one of our kids. That way it 'goes on' and my Dad can sleep at night

Re: Who is going to miss their last name?
I fought with FI over keeping my last name. When I lost that battle I started fighting with him over hyphenating or keeping both with no hyphen. That one I won - not that he's happy about it. Oh yeah, and I'm not allowed to tell his family that I'm hyphenating or keeping both. But, at least I can use my easy to spell and say name at work. I have to take his unbelievably difficult to spell and say last name for everything else. If only people could pronounce it I wouldn't mind so much because it's actually pretty. But people butcher it when they say it.

Re: Who is going to miss their last name?
Not me b/c I am hyphenating. No way am I dropping my Dad's name. I am honored to have my father’s last name. And I am honored to be able to add FH’s name to my long list of names.

Re: Who is going to miss their last name?
I will a little. I keep telling FH that he should change his name (he does not find that as funny as I do) I come from a family with four girls including me. I have male cousions but I feel bad for my dad in a way,....no one to carry his name.
