Who pays for wedding bands?

i sooo want to pay for MY own wedding band (and even willling to pay for FIs too!) but FI told me his aunt is giving it for us as a wedding gift... but with limitations (just plain gold band) i'm not saying i'm ungrateful but i wanted something else to go with my platinum e-ring!

Yeah I would speak up about this.. Since you have a platinum e-ring maybe suggest that the wedding band be platinum? Yeah it was a nice gesture but this is one of those situations where you really wish no one would offer you any favors..You can offer to pay the difference.. I would do that.

honestly, I dont think its appropriate for her to just do it... you should both have to say yes wedding bands are a really important part of the wedding IMO

ITA. I'd tell her thanks but no thanks. Especially since your e-ring is platinum! It wouldn't look right with a gold band.
