I got an RSVP back from some friends of FH. They made their own box- maybe!! and checked that off! They wrote next to the maybe that they are trying to see if they can get airline tickets. They've had the invite for about a month now and we sent them an engagement announcement last fall letting them know an October 2007 wedding was planned and they still don't know what they are doing?? Ugh.

OMG no they didn't, well I guess they did. I would call them in about two weeks and ask them if they made their mind up b/c you have to give the hall the final count. Good Luck!!

Ugh! Well, when I asked the guy who's doing repairs on our boat, if it would be done by the holiday weekend so I can make land or water plans, he said maybe. Then he said, always count a maybe as a no! Hence me on LIW and not Fire Island!!!
That's bull dooky!
If they do come to your wedding, don't have a seat for them! Tell them if they can draw their own reply box, they can draw their own fekkin' table!!!!!!

That's a new one. Some people try to be really funny at the wrong times. I would call them and say maybe doesnt fly it is either yes or no and if they still say maybe dont include them in the seating. The joke will be on them then they will learn their lesson of not messing with a bride next time.

Oh no... RSVP's are the worst... you either don't get a reply, get a reply with added people, or they say yes and then don't show... we had all of these issues with our rsvp's for our e-party...I couldn't even imagine dealing with this for the wedding!!! Have you FH call them and tell them by the end of this week you need to know YES or NO. Some people....does anyone have any idea what it takes to pay and plan a wedding!!!

Wow, that is pretty ballsy of that guest! How does a maybe help you considering the purpose of an RSVP is to get a final head count? What would they do if you maybe decided, lets say, not to give them a plate at the wedding? Jeez! They couldn't think of this before? And how long are they going to try before they decide? When do they want to tell you, the day before your wedding!!!

That's strange and kinda rude. You obviously KNEW is was a maybe when you sent the invite so how does their RSVP help!

you know, i hate to say it and i'm not defending anyone here, but i don't think i fully 'got' the whole RSVP concept when I was right out of college. How old is ms. or mr. maybe? perhaps they think of it as a regular party where you can say maybe, or i might be this number or i might be that number.
I once RSVP'd verbally to a girlfriend of mine, and a few weeks before the wedding i got an annoyed phone call from her saying 'why didn't you return your rsvp??' I said, 'you know I'm coming, I told you i was coming and we've been disussing it for the past several months!' I just didn't understand at that time how impt it was to return the actual card. Hmmm....come to think of it, i wonder if that is why she never sent me a thank you note for my gift. nevertheless, we are no longer friends anyway, but still.....
