Something someone wrote on Jess' money stress thread got me thinking.....

Did you want the wedding or did FH????

For me - Dave wanted it. I really wanted to go to Niagara Falls with a small group of people or Vegas....he wanted the wedding....i guess on some level i did too..

Well FH really wanted a destination wedding, with close family & friends. I thought it was a nice idea..

My dad said 'NO DICE!' My family is a huge traditional Italian family....our wedding will be about 300 people, crazy Italian wedding with all the trimmings..but we couldn't do it without my parents. And FH is sooo into now...he wants it to be like Platinum weddings...hahahaha. not quite hun.

But we're enjoying the planning and we're really exicted.

my parents did. FH and I originally planned to do it in VA at my university's waterfront chapel and a small reception a few blocks away at this outdoor restaurant but once we started to take our families into account and moved it to NY it ballooned out of control. I feel so sorry for FH that I'm taking down this road with me.

We both wanted the wedding.... it is funny hearing my FH say things that he wants to incorporate into our wedding that he has been thinking about for years.... I

FH. i never wanted the big church wedding. I would have been perfectly fine with city hall.

but we talked about it.. and agreed to go with the big church wedding.

well... technically its both b/c he wants certain aspects and i want certain aspects.

but if i had to choose, i'd say its more me. FH is very very very laid back... lol

We both want it. We're both really family-oriented and wanted to celebrate with the people we love. We also wanted to have a really good time and make a day that was all about us.

We both wanted it..at first we through around the idea of a destination wedding. But both of my grandma's are in their 80s and wouldnt be able to fly anywhere, and I would not get married if they were not able to attend..so then we decided to stay here on the island but to keep it small. However once we started planning that idea went out the window too b/c FH figured if we're going to do this then we're doing it right!

I did. If FH had his way, we would've had a 20 person destination wedding somewhere in Europe.

neither one of us wanted a big NY wedding....we wanted a small destination wedding....until we started seriously talking about getting engaged/married....we started to realized that a NY wedding would be better for us b/c we wanted more than just a handful of people to attend and we didnt want to inconveinence our family and friends by doing a destination .....so we went from having an island wedding with 20 people to having a big NY wedding but we have made all our decisions together and i think we equally want the type of wedding that we are having....

this is almost exactly our situation.. we went from eloping (eh, not crazy about that) to a 20 person destination wedding in the bahamas (until the reality of planning and people not being able to afford it or go) to our current, 150 person wedding in LI... which is small compared to what i'm used to. Neither of us wanted this kind of wedding but now we're used to the idea.

i also never envisioned what my wedding day would be like EVER (i was in denial my whole life) so that made figuring out what we wanted a lot harder

I'm greedy. I want both a Huge wedding and a beautiful small destination wedding on a Caribbean Island. We decided on the huge wedding which will allow all our family and friends to make it, and we figured we'd renew our vows as a destinitation type thing =)

we both wanted it. He however surprised me by wanting a big lavish wedding...while I although I wanted to get married at saint agnes cathedral could have had my reception in a barn and been happy.

HIS mother wanted it!

I had everything booked in SOuth Beach @ the National Hotel. I had everything taken care i even had Tiffany Nieves as my planner whos donw the platnium weddings to make my wedding MY dream- but bc of his mom we had conflict so it's now in NY. we compromised. but im thinking i should have NOT listened to her and done it MY way. BUT i can't complain my wedding will be JUST as nice!
