Chippa ~ I think it's umemployment. I know someone that was laid off last month, they made a decent salary and are receiving $400 a week unemployment!!

Oh, and you may know this too - are the payments supposed to be retroactive? They applied 4 weeks ago and just got their first check but it was only for one week. TIA

I agree that this is going to be rough on us all...but is anyone forgetting what we have to pay for? We are going to be paying for September 11th for a very very very long time.

I have no problem staying here, suffering just a little bit, and waiting just a little longer so that this city can get back on it's feet. Yes, it's attractive to live somewhere else in a big house, but I will never be convinced that it's 'better' anyplace else.

Sorry, I'm a NY purist!

Misty: I agree we are definatly going to be paying for a long time.

It just gets so upsetting to see NY the way it is, NYPD 2003 class canceled, sanitation workers layed off, teachers aids layed off, over crowded classrooms, crime rate increasing and unemployement rates going up.

Then you go to another state where houses are 120K, your garbage is picked up everyday, your neighbors are friendly and the biggest crime is drinking in public.

Misty

I think people are lazy and just don't want to work. They think jobs and rasies are going to fall at their feet..

It's very upsetting, you are right, but there are reasons for it. Do I think Bloomberg and Co are handling it well? No, not really...but do I think we have a choice? No, I don't. That's why I'm going to live with it, and wait patiently. I'll get the house I want eventually.

There are more and more jobs popping up on the job sites everyday. This city will wake up, it will be a while, but it will....right now it's hard because there are so many people in the market for a job, but that will change soon too. Everything is cyclical...

I would say Melissa.

Get the RTIMES ..
And apply for a job there.. Bc the longer you are out of work the worse it is. Companies don't want to see you sat home on your A@@ all the time collecting unemployment....

I know the Crownicle has jobs locally . Check
