Why are city schools open today?

Just like the private schools are closed the same thing should have gone for the city schools. I know the private schools are not city owned but still....

Bloomberg is a heartless *******! DH is a teacher and he had to leave at 5:30 am while it was still snowing heavily and drive to school.... I feel bad for all teachers and the students that had to go to school today....thanks mayor... you may be smart when it comes to business but when it comes to common sense, you are a moron!

but you aren't really..you made generalizations..that teaching is SOOO hard and there are plenty of hard professions out there.
I work in a mental health facitlity where you can get attack MANY times a day. You have to be understanding and patient...cause they aren't going anywhere! You can take off for the summer because you are burnt out...We have teachers IN MY FACILITY who do not get summers off! What about them!! Talk about a hard job! These individuals that we have are all mental retardated PLUS haveing a psychiatric disorder on top of that! So please...becareful when y ou make generalizations like you have...YOU do not know what it is like to have someone elses job!

well that makes more sense than 'I'm talking about teachers' ... you are arguing that teaching is the most important/hardest job in the world ... people are arguing that is is not and you post 'I'm just talking about teachers' ... didn't make any sense at all.

I think ANY job without vacation gets burned out. Two - Three weeks for other jobs is not enough at all.

Ok, that was only like 4 posts ago. You said a LOT more than that before, and not just on this thread.

For god's sake, look at your avatar title - 'Only four more weeks until the next vacation'.

Know what, I have 3 more months until my next day off. If you want to complain about not having a day off due to FOUR INCHES of snow after you all just got back from a week long vacation last week, I wouldn't do it here, I don't think you're going to get much sympathy.

I am sure I am going to get flamed for this- but what makes your DH different from any other person that has to get to work? My DH had to drive 30 miles to get to his job. It wasn't a suprise that it was snowing and that he had to get to work- but he went slow and he allowed extra time...
Just because your DH had to drive to work like everyone else doesn't make Bloomberg heartless...

I was just voicing my concern for my husband. You make it seem like I said 'to hell with everybody else'... I didn't say he was the only one going to work.

Thats cool but your subject line said 'why are city schools open today?' Which to me means they should be closed cause it snowed. When LOTS of other business are OPEN!
