Why do we tip all these people?? THOUGHTS PLEASE

I gave my parents the list of who to tip and how much and after looking it over, its like another $1200!!!!!

Why do all these people get tipped ON TOP of what we are paying? I can see the maitre d and bridal attendant. But why photo, dj, ceremony musicians, officiant?? Most of my vendors OWN the company that i booked and already are getting the cash.

I just dont see the reason why we tip them. They are providing a service that i paid LOTS of money for them to do in the first place

Please help clear this up

Only tipping the DJ, Photo/Video and bridal attendant-maybe 50.

I do not want to tip the maitre d'-theres no point-when we booked the bm told us it was part of our 18% charge-maybe, if hes lucky, he'll get 100.

I was told that the maitre d' should be tipped a minimum of $3 to $5 a head! That's insane, there is no way we are tipping that much.

we wont look like a-holes, b/c technically we wont see these people again. give what you can afford and dont worry about what you 'look' like.

I agree 100% - I will give what I can and what they DESERVE not what they might expect - it could be way more or way less!!

YEP-we just got told that on our last visit from the guy who does the final walkthru-
i told him he was nuts lol
he said like 4/5 pp..YEA OK buddy-

I only tipped the limo drivers and the maitre D

call me cheap but all my vendors owned their respective busineses and I paid them a lot of money. that was enough.

ETA: I also tipped the makeup and hair people. that's probably because they came to my house.

you don't have to tip them, it's just a nice gesture. If you can't afford it, or see no reason to give that much-then don't. it's that simple....
