Why Kerry

Seems like there are a lot of Kerry supporters out there. I have a question - Why did you want Kerry to win? What was your reason for voting for him?

Re: Why Kerry

Alot of Kerry supportes I think are very concerned with the economy, stem cell research, abortion etc. And basically he has a way of making us envision a more united America..if I didnt have other concerns he would have had my vote. But some of the issues he supports I just dont see eye to eye.

Re: Why Kerry

I did not agree with Kerry on every issue, but I can't recall ANY issue I supported Bush on. I believe that a President has to be a diplomat and Bush rules with an iron fist. I thought Kerry had the ability to unite and bring more allies to help support in the fight on terror.

2. I don't think that you have to agree with 'Gay Marriage', but I find wanting to add an amendment to the constitution a total injustice. Bush tried it, Kerry was against it.

3. No matter how much people talk about tax cuts I think it is scary. We are piling on debt and recieving a tax break. I know I don't run my household that way because I would have to file bankruptcy.

4. I believe in a woman's right to choice. Bush no, Kerry yes.

5. I believe in embryotic stem cell research. Bush no, Kerry yes.

6. I am a huge believer in seperation of church and state. I feel that that has been lacking in the past 4 yrs. I felt that Kerry, while a religious man, believes in this Constitutional Right. Bush has shown that he does not know how to seperate his faith from his politics.

When I initially decided to vote for Kerry it was a vote for anyone but Bush. Through research and the debates I actually began to like Kerry. I understood him. I did not feel like he would govern with fear. Basically, I trusted him to lead our country in a better direction.

I agree. I hate so many things about Bush.

I hate his views on stem cell research and how he is trying to stifle science from progressing.

I hate his views on gay marriages and civil unions.

I hate his views on abortion and how he doesn't believe that it should be a woman's right to choose.

I also hate that he is mixing his religion with running the country. I am a Catholic as well and I feel as though he is a hypocrite. He was an alcoholic all his life and now that he has found God we all have to suffer.

I hate how he lies and has gone to war for personal reasons. He has personal money tied up with Osama Bin Ladin and I think it is disgusting.

I hate this war. I feel like we don't belong there and our troops are being killed for nothing. I feel that we are in the wrong country and trying to force demcracy on a country that doesn't want to be democratic.

I hate how he is lying abou tnot enforcing a draft. He will have no choice...NO ONE is going to volunteer for the armed services and voluntarily go to this war. There is no end in sight for this war and I fear it will become another Viet Nam all over again.

I think he is ignorant, thoughtless and he is spoon fed all of his speaches and public statements by **** Cheney.

And, to answer your question, the reason 'why Kerry' is because he my feelings on issues above tend to be what his views are as well. I feel that he is much more real and down to earth. He seems much more aware of the needs of our changing country and interested in making changes to benefit the people and not just his own political perogative.

Re: Why Kerry

i voted for kerry b/c i agree with him on issues that are important to me, mainly abortion, gay rights, and the economy. and i think it was time for a change. i also strongly dislike how much bush talks about and uses his faith in making decisions. i don't believe in god and find it very difficult to identify with someone who does so strongly.

Re: Why Kerry

These are things that make the 2 candidates very different.....

Bush has a right to his faith and making it part of his decision making for this country - although I do not believe its been a criticial part of all his decisions.....if there isn't alittle bit of restraint somewhere/somehow or difference between the two - then it wouldn't of been as interesting as it has been......

Personally I just didnt have faith in Kerry -and am happy to have President Bush for another 4 more years....

But the decision was made, people voted and the majority voted for Bush - point blank.

I've read comments about Kerry losing because of all the registered voters who didn't vote - - - personally I think thats just an exuse! Its done.

Re: Why Kerry

Kerry said that he has strong religious beliefs, but would not allow that to interfere with his political policies. Example being: He does not believe in abortion, but he would not make a law making it illegal because his religious beliefs should not dictate policy.

To those whose beliefs are not the same....This is not a debate. Those that supported Kerry were asked why they did so. We believe what we believe. It is moot to try and debate it at this point.

Re: Why NOT Kerry

I can give you my reasons for not voting for Kerry.

BTW-It's not possible to have a complete separation between church and state. Look at our money. Lookat our declaration of independence. Almost all of our governing documents mention God.

#1 -a woman's right to chose - as it is now, no

#2 - embryonic stem cell research - no

#3 - Although I may not agree with Bush on everytinhg, I like that he stands for what he beleives in and fights for it tooth and nail. Kerry, well, he doesn't try hard enough and isn't good at convincing me he really cares.

#4 - Kerry had no plan for anything. He just kept saying what he would do, but not how.

I found I couldn't trust Kerry to do anything. I looked at him and he just couldn't convince me.
