O'Reilly IS NOT INDEPENDENT- ARE YOU KIDDING ME? God the O'Reilly factor is basically- lets get some liberal on here so I can yell at them! What-ev. a REAL independent is Bill Maher.
To get a total opinion- how about you read a few papers- watch some DIFFERENT news channels- and come up with your own ideas.. that's what I do.
I don't need to be spoon fed.
I think that only an untra-conservative can classify O'Reilly as independent. The others listed, I am not sure about, but this one I am.
Jordan - you are going to hurt yourself today. You are rolling around on the floor laughing all over the place!!

Re: Why the investigation with Condolezza RIce testifying
Again I will ask( stop me if you have heard this before ).what is this going to prove.....that politicians are underneath and usually have their own agenda..........I think we all grasp that. Bush and Presidents before him had many foul ups but bringing them all to light at this point is quite counter productive........Bush's foreign policy is a bit lack luster and his financial stategy down right stinks, but that is what the voting booths are for to make such judgments.....to have condi Rice go and testify is probably one of the most ridiculous things I have seen in a long time...why drag her through the mud along with Bush...................meanhile the baby boomers are retiring and social security expenditures are going through the roof...........It is the American people's fault just as anyone else's for endorsing such things.......if I remember correctly Many people were in favor of the war(can't quote numbers, just know it was substantial).........Once the truth comes out that Bush had a vendetta against Saddam etc.what then?

Dude- when I hear someone tell me something that I don't know and that I haven't thought about then maybe I will say, 'you aren't quoting O'Reilly or Rush or someother idiot'.. I want people to tell me why they see things the way they see things and not because they were told so or because the other guy 'is an idiot'.. that is the easy way out..

Because we need to know if we had information and it didn't get to the right person, then why? What can we do better? How can we have a system that gets the information to the people who can act and act well.. that is the point.. and Condi was a big part of that system.

if you think I was being spoon fed, you should listen to this guy first before you tell me I am being spoon fed- it's culmination of what I am reading and what I am seeing- not just one specific point of view that one political party subscribes to.
edited to say- didn't know you were in that class with me- next time I will say hi...

Bush's financial policy alone is enough for the American people to make a fair assesment of his leadership skills...........this kind of thing is never ending. how far back with the Presidents are they going to go? Are they calling Bush Senior?

Krugman is an interesting person, wonder what the conservatives on this board think of David Brooks? Although I don't always agree with him, I am a big fan of his as well...

I'll add it to my list, but I still have to read Jews, God & History to discuss with Rachel and she just got bumped by Clark's book.
Has Krugman written several books? If he has can you tell me the title of the book you are referring to.

Financial policy meaning crappy, yes? I hope that's what you were referring to!
Krugman's book is called the 'Great Unravelling' It's a VERY easy read.. basically it's a compilation of all his different columns.
The thing with Krugman is he's an equal opportunity criticizer!

Condi has already had a priavate conversation with the commission. But they wanted her to testify publicly. I think they are talking about speaking in private vs. testifying in public.

A good roll-around never hurt anyone.
I almost hurt myself on the spoon though.

Here’s my 2 cents. Yes, I know I’m a bit over the top about this. It’s all pure emotion. I’ll admit that. I’m not mastermind government genius who can tell you EXACTLY what did or didn’t happen. I’m just a lowly voter with a voice.
I agree that I find Condi Rice to be an intelligent woman. I think the media is full of crap and likes to tell us how to think. Condi Rice HAS testified and been interviewed in private with the commission. Bush Sr, Clinton & Bush Jr (as they are called) are all equal in this if you believe they could have actually STOPPED it.
I don’t blame the administrations. I blame the American people in general, including myself, assuming there is blame to lay. We hate when the administration of our country tries to tell us how to run our lives of the lives of our neighbors. We all get huffy about it. We don’t want them to know too much about us, but think they should just ‘know’ all about the bad guys in our country without breaking any privacy laws or seeming too ‘mean’. They should just ‘know’ without assuming or unfairly treating all other citizens or non-citizens, profiling or prying into private files and threatening our civil rights. Sure that sounds possible.
What I hate most about this commission is that it’s a waste of time and taxpayer money. I agree we should investigate what went wrong to prevent it from happening again, but I think the American people will not like the solutions to this problem. Look at Israel and how they live, do we want to live like that? Have our purses checked when we go the mall? Be under constant suspicion? No we don’t want that.
We want someone we can point a finger at and say “They are to blame”. My whole argument with that theory is that I have 19 men I can easily point out for you and say it is indeed REALLY all their fault. Nothing we could have done would have prepared us for this. They didn’t take our airplanes with machine guns, they took them with plastic knives and fear. They beat us because they were willing to think ugly and use that ugliness against us. Who WOULD fly a plane into a building? Only monsters!
Does it take millions of dollars and time to figure out that we got caught with our pants down? All of us. From Bush to the men & women on those airplanes and the men & women in those buildings. This was an act of huge monstrosity. One we couldn’t have planned for because it was outside the realm of our reality at the time. Nowadays, try taking an airplane hostage with a plastic butter knife? At least half the cabin will attack you. We won’t don’t want to die, none of us do, but we won’t kill other innocent Americans if we can help it. We won’t allow terrorist to use us a living bomb which we will die anyway only to destroy the lives of thousands of others. This was done once and we won’t allow it to happen again.
I agree with you wholeheartedly!!!!
Every administration had the opportunity to deal with this situation but everyone including almost every american probably though no one would ever dare to attack us on our own soil. People are always complaining that we spend too much on our military, well look at what cutbacks did.
I think we need to stop finding out who's to blame (its too late now) and all come together to make sure that it never happens again, both democrats and republican alike.

Yes I mean it STINKS.........if people want to know who they should be voting for the truth is in the numbers......when a man can watch his country drift further and further into debt and still ask for millions of dollars to create prison, zip codes syetems and subsidize MBA classes in Iraq....I think your choices about his chances of beinf re-elected are pretty easy....
