Will this make me the bride from Hell?...

Will this make me the bride from Hell?...

Ok, I have to be organized, and I want my Bridal party to be an active part of our wedding. I was thinking of creating mini notebooks for them, (similar to mine). Including a letter on why I love them & reinforcing that they are wonderful and special to Jas & I. List of expectations (help assembeling DIY projects, task @ the wedding etc.) Print out of dress & flower styles we're thinking about.... and Bachlorette & bridal shower ideas that I like & don't like (ex: I hate the idea of random naked men, & I think addressing your own thank yous @ a shower is uber tacky)...

What do you think... do you think it's too much? Will I overwhelm them? Or will it be good to put all my cards on the table w/ my expectations....

O- yeah - these will be given out when we have our formal asking dinner party (jas & I are thinkingof asking the guys & gals together, we 're having a huge bridalparty)

thanks guys

o- one last thing, for the girls that havn't been married - engaged do you think it's wrong to ask them to join LIW so they can see things that I like, & learn more about weddings.

Though it sounds like you are very organized you do know the group that you picked better then we do,but I think you might scare them. It might be a good idea to give them some tips and stuff, but I don't think you want it to seem like a necessity it order to be part of your special day.

I'd have to say if I got that I'd be scared. I don't see anything wrong w/ giving them booklets with a note from you, plus the dresses and flowers you like. But I'd keep the other stuff to yourself and ask people to help as you go along. Remember, they are your BMs because you love them and they have been there for you.

I agree.. I defintely like the notebook idea... I just dont know if it should be outlined like that, I was in a bridal party and the bride did that to us. It kind of offended us because she chose us because we values us and cherishes our friendship, so we felt that she should at least trust us to plan the bachelorette party and shower.. it is our way of showing her what her friendship meant to us.

You can drop hits of what you like and what you dont like..but outlining it may be a bit much...

I think that they might feel overwhelmed - especially since they don't know much about weddings. They'll learn as they go along; I don't think that they need to sign up for LIW, but that's just my opinion.

thanks so the notebook w/ expectations: (est. expence of being in the BP) dresses, flowers etc. is ok, but nothing about the Bachlorette or shower.

Thanks

In my opinion....Don't do it! It might come across a little harsh to some people. I'm all for you letting them know your expectations but I think it can be done in a more delicate way. Maybe one day you can take your girls out for lunch and just have a chat about things...

It's totally fine to tell them what you like in terms of your BP and shower, but I'd say it in person (not in a notebook) a few months before the BP and shower. If your idea of a good time is no strippers and just going to a bar or club, tell them that. Don't plan it yourself or give them a laundry list of things they must do to make you happy.
Just remember, as supportive as your BMs may be, no one will be as invested in the day as you and your FI. The girls may not drop everything to help out with DIY projects, etc.
If they've never been married or been a bridesmaid, it's a good idea to let them know how expensive it can be. If you decide to give them a list of expectations (depending on what they are, you might scare/overwhelm them), make sure it's realistic.

I think your idea is cute but not sure how the BP will feel. Keep in mind ( and you will see this more throughout the time you are engaged) that even if they are excited and honored to be part of the day-they may not be all that interested in the planning and your 'expectations'....

I like the little notebook idea with the writing, expectations, dresses and flowers - i might do that myself, but as for the other stuff i'd just drop hints as you go along. I don't want strippers myself and i'm telling my girls that, i'm giving them hints as to what I like and ideas on what i want to do and i'm going to let them take the ideas and put everything together using my ideas in their own way.
Good luck!!

Although your wedding is extremely important to you, it isn't going to be the #1 event in your bridal party's life.
If you are setting these high expectations now, you are more than likely going to be disappointed when your friends don't step up.

I am super organized and anal and everyone in my bridal party knows that and makes fun of me about it. But, I think the notebook would be over the top. I think my girls would throw it at me if I did that.
