Just when you think things are almost done for your own wedding, and are so pumped that your wedding day is only 9 days away....... Your FH's sister gets engaged LAST NIGHT, 10 days before your wedding Yep, this is my life, and it all hapened last night! Please, honestly tell me..how would you feel if you were me??

I don't think it will have any affect on your wedding at all. Let it go and enjoy that you are getting married to a wonderful man in 9 days! Also, enjoy the fact that those around you are embarking on a new journey as well. Its nice that your future sister in law is engaged. Be happy for her and remember how you glowed when you first got engaged.

You girls are really the best You really have a way of turning a negative into the positive! Thanks I guess you are all right! When we got the call last night, it was just I really think my FH was bothered by it more..he's so sweet and so not selfish!! I wish some other people would be more like him

listen 2 this one- its sad- i was @ a funeral of a great guy- my bil brother- our bday was 3 days apart so we always celebrated 2gether- well he passed away in a freak accident- and was very young- early 20's -so after the funeral we got to sil house for the traditional gathering for lunch-well the deceased cousin goes and asks his girlfriend 2 marry him- not in front of everyone but that same day and this girl is going around showing her ring etc. if that had happen i would of kept it 2 myself and waited till afew days later to announce it. not the day of burielsome people just do not think

That is terrible
As far as the 10 days before your wedding engagement, I agree with the thought that at least it didn't happen at your wedding or your rehearsal dinner...some people just don't get good timing

i guess when the moment feels right, you just go for it. its not like SIL planned it on purpose.
think of it this way, in 9 days all thoughts and eyes will be on you and your big day and no one will even be talking about 'whats her names' engagement!
at least this didnt happen to you...DH's cousin had her bridal shower 6 days before my wedding! then she mailed her invites the day before my wedding so that the invites arrived the DAY OF my wedding! but whatever...i didnt care! but i waited until the RSVP due date to send the card back !

Ditto this one.. but i kinda know what you mean, always feel like FH's family always has to do somthing to rain on my parade.. either comlain about something or draw attention to themselves, or just something! every holiday, every birthday, every event about us (e-party, shower, bat-party) who know what is next at the wedding!...

Look at it this way....
You are about to play in the SUPERBOWL! You are about to be the friggin' MVP!
She just got invited to join the roster for the lowest ranked team in the league....
So she gets to giggle and show off her ring and have people ask her when are you getting married? You have been there and done that. Now you are about to experience the PAY OFF! On your wedding day there will be a few people who congratulate her and maybe ooh and ahh a little over her ring... but they will be falling OVER themselves just to spend a few minutes with YOU. They might take a moment to chat with her about her ring, but the REAL talk of the day will be you, your dress, your ceremony, your reception... NOTHING could steal your thunder on that day.
Plus... she didn't ask him did she? Her FH could have had better timing - but oh well!
I would have the band or DJ play a good song for your new SIL and her FI and get ready to share all the cool stuff you have learned! She still has a loooong way to go before she gets to be where you are.

Not to rain on your pity party, but seriously, people are supposed to plan their engagements so that they don't happen to close to their future brother-in-law's wedding? I mean, it's one thing to be mad if someone gets engaged AT your wedding, that's totally stealing your thunder, but they got engaged over a week before. Why not? How does it make your wedding less special? Just be happy for them and welcome your soon to be BIL (or whatever he will be) into the family!
Exactly my thoughts!!!!!! Maybe that day is something special to them and thats why he picked that day... its your FH Sister who I am sure didn't pick the day she was going to get proposed to... I know I didn't pick mine...
Just relax... you only have 9 days left!!! You should be super excited!!!!!
