do you feel like a guilty mess getting married?.. I honestly feellike calling it off and saving for a house instead. Just incase. I don't know something about spending $5000 on a photographer and $15 per person just for a VH makes me ill .. I just don't feel like I can do it. Seeing how the world is.

Re: With todays economy
that's why I booked at the Med Manor. You can't beat the price. I don't want to go broke over a wedding. I have a house, and it seems silly to spend so much money on the wedding. People are going to have a good time without the $5000 photog, and the $6000 flowers.

Yes, I totally feel guilty too. I mean I am worried about paying for a wedding, when some people cant afford their homes.
To justify it, we are contributing to the economy, with my dress, RH, photographer, video. I am keeping these people in business.

Yes.. I do. Honestly FH and I talk about calling it off everyday now. We feel like we should just put the $ in savings cause neither of our jobs are secure right now and I know half the people we invite probably wont be able to afford to come by september anyhow....The only thing stopping us is that we really WANT to get married and our parents would be so hurt.

Me, too. . .I wish we could have eloped shortly after getting engaged!!!! Then, we could buy this house that we're both drooling over in Islip. . .who knows if it will still be on the market in November. . .
But FH's mom would have been disappointed without a party, so there you go.

Re: With todays economy
Believe me you're not alone, I was talking to my parents about this the other night, I was so depressed, saying how, we can't believe that FH and I are getting married at THE MOST inopportune time!!!!! Who knew this was going to happen though, we're all going to get through it, our weddings are going to be fabulous and i look at it this way, maybe our weddings are giving people something happy to look forward to, something to celebrate, it's all going to work out in the end, and the economy will get better, we have to believe that, and it will!!! (okay pep talk over)!!!!

There's no rule that says you have to spend thousands upon thousands of dollars to have a great wedding. Look into things you can do yourself, keep your dress because every girl deserves a beautiful dress at least once in her life. look into other RH's that aren't as expensive and give you alot for your money. Med manor gives me either a photog or videographer, a cake, a limo, a choice between 2 dj's, and table flowers. It's not a bad deal for $10000. And the food is awesome. you have other options besides going broke ;o)

don't call off your wedding. Remember why you are having a wedding and a celebration in the first place: you are marrying the man you love and want to celebrate that with all of the important people in your life. It's not about the gifts you may or may not get. It's about the celebration. With that said, invite the people who are special to you.

I wont call it off....I've already invested nearly $8 grand....I can afford my wedding....it just feels like this is a bad time for this.
I have a $1000 vendor deposit in my hand (Mariachi) and I feel like this is all so frivilous right now. People are losing pensions/jobs/healthcare ect.
I'm really sensitive to the situations of others. That's probably my problem.

you're sensitive because you are a good person. If you can afford it, then you should do it. If it's going to put you into debt, then you should re-think it. That's the mantra that EVERYONE should repeat in their heads right now, especially with the economy the way it is. We have to protect ourselves. We have to have an ample savings, because you never know what's going to happen!
