Wording on OOT Itinerary

We have a gap of 3.5 hours between the church and the cocktail hour. My mother is having food at her home which is local to both the church and the reception. I wanted to inform my guests that are staying at a local hotel of that but Im not good with words. This is what I have:

Due to the gap between the ceremony and cocktail hour we encourage you to go to xxxxxx home for refreshments and relaxation.

I wanted to write something about guests going to the hotel and resting or freshening up as an option but not sure if I should.

Thanks Ladies!!

I think that's fine! A few wording adjustments:

'After the ceremony, we invite you the home of XXXX for refreshments and relaxation.'

I don't think it's necessary to include going back to the hotel as an option.

I agree with Lisa. By saying something like 'due to' you put a negative spin on the fact that there is time between the two events. I know a lot of people don't like having a gap between the ceremony and cocktail hour, it's all I've every experienced so I'm cool with it. It's what you want, and what would be more convenient for other people shouldn't be of your concern, at least not your priority. (I think I'm venting after a very long a stressful wedding planning day, sorry if I'm coming off as harsh.)

So yeah, to sum up, simply state that 'Following the ceremony, refreshments and like snacks will be served at XXXXX'

If you are having a shuttle pick people up at the hotel you may want to mention those details as well, but you don't have to remind people to go back to the hotel and relax up. I will probably mention it to people that I see the week of my wedding.
