Worst Wedding Gifts

Original post by msabla1

Hello,
Any newlyweds out there have a 'worst wedding gift story?' I know there have been a great deal of posts as how much to give to the happy couple.

Just curious.

Thanks.

My boss came to my wedding and did not give a card or a gift. When I went back to work, she acknowledged the fact thatshe did not give us anything and said she had a card for us. Needless to say, we never got a thing from her!

Oh wow.... I wonder what will happen at our wedding. We will have a lot of OOT guests and apparently it's common to give gifts not $$$. Will they really fly across the country with these gifts? Will they send them to us? will they give a check?

On the west coast, where I am from, no one brings $$ and everyone brings gifts. Isn't that funny? My parents always ship them to them the week of the wedding.

HTH!

That is what I am used to as well. I am from the south, and I am used to a gift table at the reception, not a card box. My boss got married last week, and I asked where the gift table is, and she just stared at me

Well that's easy - your $50 gift was 25% off that day!

Re: Worst Wedding Gifts

Aside from the groomsman who came to our e-party and didn't give a gift, I don't think we really had any 'bad' engagement gifts. Two of my friends gave objectively 'small' gifts, but I don't consider them bad in the slightest because they don't have very much money and chose things from my registry that I absolutely LOVE!

Actually, I take that back. We had one awful gift (it's kind of complicated) that led to a lot of drama, but I shouldn't post anything else here. If you want to know, FM me.

As for a funny gift, my dad's elderly aunt who sent a check before our e-party walked in with a bag from Vicky's. She then told me that she bought me a little 'sexy sexy' and winked at me. She told me it was pink and sparkly (which is usually SO NOT ME!) but I am keeping it because I think it is absolutely hilarious.

Re: Worst Wedding Gifts

Mine is similar to Kara's, but not nearly as funny (as we can't 'confirm' our suspicions like she did.) We got a Bible from DH's brother. He's one of those born-agains in a weird religion in CA, and the Bible he gave us was not a 'standard' version of the Bible. It was personalized, but only with our last name (which is also his....) so we're PRETTY sure it was his--it wasn't wrapped; it was just in its box and the lines for personalization on the first few pages are completely blank. We hope (to God ) that we're wrong! I mean, really....who regifts a BIBLE??

I'm Jewish, FH is not (but he's not religious). If anyone gave us a bible as a wedding gift I think I would

We didn't get any bad wedding gifts, but we did have about 10 of DH's friends come and not give a gift.
