Would It Be Wrong To Not Attend Your MOH's Wedding?
Original post by eden
I got married last year and booked my mediterranean honeymoon cruise this memorial weekend.
Problem is my friend, and former MOH, is planning to have her reception this year also on Memorial weekend but she has not even booked her reception location yet!!!!
She tells me that she definitely will book something by end of this month.
Realistically speaking, how possible is it to find a place with such short notice?
Second question is, would it be wrong if I decide to leave for my honeymoon before her wedding (assuming she even has a wedding)? Airfare is a few hundred more if I wait until after Memorial weekend because it will be peak summer travel to Europe. :(
Wha'ts a girl to do?

Does she know you already booked your honeymoon for this memorial weekend? And it is before she booked her reception she should really understand if she already knows you are booked for your HM and maybe try to book her date later especially since she does not have a venue booked as yet.

Go on your honeymoon. PERIOD.
Your HM, while delayed, is an extremely important part of YOUR wedding. You already had that booked and she is chossing to disregard that while planning her wedding. That is HER problem, not yours. She should completely understand that you are not changing your HM for her wedding -- especially when you booked your HM first - and she hasn't even booked her wedding yet.
Go on your HM. Make it clear to her now that you can't reschedule instead of saying you may be able to cancel. Explain to her that your HM is already planned and is extremely important to you. You're very sorry that you won't be able to make her wedding if it's that weekend, but you'll of course be there if it's any other time.
I wouldn't consider canceling or rescheduling my HM in this situation.

ok, I will be the odd man out here..why is she trying to book her wedding for a weekend when she knows you ALREADY have your HM booked and waaay at the last minute? It's not like this is just some trip that you have planned
If it was soo important to her for you to be there she should choose another date..otherwise she really has no right to be upset, IMO
I agree!!! If she had already booked her wedding before you booked your honeymoon, I would be mad if I was her but, she has no right to be mad since you booked your trip first!
I agree with this also. You are standing to lose a lot of $$ and she is already married? Personally, I don' think it's a question as to what you do. Good luck with your decision
