Would this make you Suspicious??

Would this make you Suspicious??

Hey guys--SO here is the situation (sorry it's sooo long!)

I was driving past a certain bridal place and saw a gorgeous dress in the window. Since my wedding is two years away, I only went in to get the name of the designer to put it in my 'book.'

When I went in, the girl suggested I try the dress on (which of course I did and LOVED it) Then the girl said that it was hand-beaded and would take up to a year and a half to come in. She Also said that the dress was a davinci dress. When I looked at the label, it said a lila couture dress, so right there I was a little confused but didn't say anything. The sales girl was all about the pressure and suggested that I order it in the next few weeks to make sure I had plenty of time.

So when I went home I looked up lila couture and found out that the dress takes 12 weeks to get into the store AT the MOST (something which was confirmed when I e-mailed the distributor)

So all in all--this would totally make you not want to deal with this particular bridal salon, right? Or should I just disregard it ?

I personally don't like when stores do things like that just to make a sale. I'm the same when one vendor bad-mouths another. But use your instincts.

when you go to the site...do you see the dress?? if so keep the style # and go to a salon that has a better rep and ask them for a price quote and ask how long it will take for the dress to come in! I personally hated when sales ppl said that stuff to me and when they did thats when i walked out and didnt go back!

Yeah luckily the people at lila couture were fantastic and I just got an e-mail. Unfortunately, they said at first the dress is only at the one place where I had the problem and another salon (which I've heard awful things about)

But they were so great and now they're having the dress sent to Lillettes (sp?)
Although I don't need it right away, since they said that they can get it in my size and with the sleeves I want, in 8-12 weeks!

That would make me want to stay away from that bridal salon... i dont like liars... and if they are aready lieing now, they may lie again when it comes time for alterations and that can really mess things up!

I would also go back there and ask to speak to a manager and tell them exactly what their sales girls said to you!

i'm glad they said they would send it to lilettes because i would not want to do business there, it was all about pressuring you for the sale

Yup - dishonesty already - I would skip that shop.

I am using Lillette's. They gave me a great price on my dress (Paloma Blanca) and Paula in the alterations department has been wonderful!!!! I highly recommend using them....Good luck!

JMO! I wouldn't deal with a store like that. Also, I have never heard of it taking a year and a half for a dress to come in. They will do anything for a sale. If you really like the dress, find another store that has your dress and better customer service.

i agree, my dress has a whole lotta beading too and it didn't take 1.5 years for me to get it. :P

i would use caution when dealing with that salon.

There is this great book called Bridal Bargains, that gives you so many tips on what to look out for in the wedding business. This sounds a lot like the scams that some bridal salons run to get you to buy the dress right away or to allow for huge mark ups. This sounds shady. I highly recommend the book because it tells you what to look out for.

Actually a lot of stores do that. Lots of dresses take only 12 weeks to be manufactured, yet stores would tell you it takes 9 to 12 months to make from the order date.

In fact, they don't even order the dress until 4 or 5 months before the first fitting. Trust me, they don't want to store a dress for one year in their store.

I don't understand why stores do that. But we know better and that's why we learn so much from this site.

Trust your gut-did you feel uncomfortable? If so-don't go back, order it from somewhere else.

i wouldn't want to deal with them. It would totally make me suspicious. I've never heard of a dress that take a year and a half to make. It would have to cost a fortune if that were the case.

No way I would return to that store. Who orders thier dress a year and a half in advance!!?

I would find the dress somewhere else. You dont want to have to deal with someone you dont trust the whole time.

I think you know deep down what time it is....she's lieing and trying to get the sale. That's ridiculous...a year and half for a dress to come in. I'd be insulted if I were you....move on! There are other salons and plenty of dresses out there! You won't have such negative feelings or doubts when you find the 'one'!
