would you...

Re: would you...

I personally wouldn't because Columbus Day isn't a holiday for everyone like Labor Day....I did go to my friend's wedding on Labor Day a few years ago though and she had 75% yeses. I was open to Thursday night though when I was searching (I ended up getting married on a Sunday). The reson I wouldn't is bec. I would be worried about meeting the mininum on a Monday...if you don't, unfortunately most Rhs hold you to the amount.
I would choose the Thursday night over the Monday...sorry JMHO

MMM, if it's a holiday weekend- it's tough because a lot of people go away. Thursday night weddings would be better- especially if it's a holiday on Friday where people will be off.

I agree!

I probably wouldn't since many of my guests would not get that holiday off of work.

But I'd do another holiday if it was right seaon, could find the right place, etc etc.

I actually was planning for a nyc loft wedding on Thanksgiving, but everything reasonable was booked till the rest of the year.

I wouldnt get married on a Monday, but I know people who have. People go away for the long weekends so I woud rethink Monday, go for a Thurs or Fri wedding

No one I know has Columbus Day off.

THANK YOU EVERYONE!!! I really appreciate your feedback. Looks like we are not going to go with the Monday. I found out what most of you said - which is that some of my family won't have that day off.

Our two options at this point are Westbury Manor on a Thursday evening in October OR Surf Club in New Rochelle on a Saturday afternoon (August through October). Both prices are about the same except that Surf Club's ceremony price is more $.

I can't wait to book our venue so I can really start planning!

THANKS AGAIN!!!!

Have you thought about another month? I know October is now one of the most expensive months to have a wedding. It starts to drop in November. We are having a Winter Ball in January which in my opinion is beautiful and different and within our budget. We are having it at The Fox Hollow where there are beautiful Fire Places everywhere! Shope around! You'll find someting

Just curious...what are they quoting you for Monday? Maybe some girls on here can help you find something comparable to that price.

I personally wouldn't but if that's what you have to do, then do it and don't worry too much about what others might think.

I'm getting married on Memorial Day monday in the afternoon. I'm encouraging my close friends and family to take off the Tuesday if they are able. However, the wedding will end at 6pm, so its not too bad if they have to get home early.

How much advanced notice do you think I should give for STDs? A year before or earlier?

alot of people do it on holiday weekends but people arent off that tuesday right? i personally wouldnt do it on either day just because people go away for columbus day and a thursday is hard on a lot of people, especially OOT guests and guests with kids

Re: would you...

If the people you know you have to have there are OK with it, then I would go for it. I would reccomend an afternoon wedding though since most people will have work th next day (and its usually hard for people to get off the day after a holiday weekend).

Its your wedding and if the price works for you then do it!

I personally wouldn't because everyone would ahve to work the following day and not everyone has columbus day off

I would do Thursday night. Like many have said, not everyone has Columbus Day off. Besides i think that most people would be willing to attend your wedding on a Thurs and take Friday off so they will have a long weekend. I always look forward to 3 day weekends.lol

I wouldnt no. Only b/c once we went to a wedding on a MOn of a holiday and everyone left early....its really up to the crowd you have...we are party people so for us it wouldnt be an option...if u have a more tame crowd then sure!

I dont think many people have off on Columbus Day, so I'd probably avoid it.
