all of my BMs are dying their shoes red, to match the dress...but my one wants to wear the shoes she wore to her last wedding, which are nude. So, 4 girls w/red shoes & 1 girl w/nude shoes and red dresses!
Should I MAKE her dye them? It really didn't bother me until my mother made a comment that I should make her get them dyed. What do you ladies think?

I wouldn't make her.
Dyed shoes will be ruined with one snap of rain, stepping into a puddle, etc - and I didn't want my girls wasting their money on this and then having the shoes get ruined on the day of the wedding.
I just made them get silver shoes to wear with the dress and no one had a problem with that.

If the dress is long, I wouldn't bother but, if they are tea length, I would (since it would be obvious).
Will any of the other girls have a problem that they are getting their shoes dyed and this one girl isn't?

IF you want her to have red shoes, but she is offering to wear ones she already has, maybe she is financially unable to get them dyed. Since it's something you want (the red shoes) can you offer to buy them for her?

i dont know...she just said that she would have to buy a new pair...and now i feel bad.
my mom was the one that said she should have them done and my mom couldnt believe i wasnt making her..

I agree, if the dress is long, who cares. If you aren't going to see them then don't worry about it. It they are shorter maybe you might want to talk to her and find out what the reason she loves the nude shoes?

I asked my girls to get red shoes, but none of them objected. Actually 4 of my girls found red shoes at mashalls, kmart, etc.

I would ask her to get the cheapest dyable shoes out there and dye them red. If everyone else has to she should have to too! If she told you she already had a red dress would you let her wear that? haha jk

I agree. If she cant afford them then I would buy her a pair. You can get a cheap pair at payless and bring them to Sandy's in Massapequa (or a similar store) to have them dyed for $10.00

no. especially if the dress is long, no one will notice. I was in a wedding two weeks ago and the dress was red. some of the girls had red shoes, and two of us wore black shoes. Believe me not one person noticed.

I completely agree. If you want her to have dyable shoes, then you should pay for them. Otherwise, just let her wear what she has.

i guess im the odd ball here....if all the girls are in red shoes she should too! it just looks weird and will stand out in pics....long or short dress! it happend to me...$$$ was tight so i had someone alter my dress and everyone esle went else where. Well now in all pics my dress is shorter than the rest and my shoes stood out! Even the girls who had their dress done by the same place..still shoes show! she said yes to be in a BP....buyin a new pair of shoes is the least of her worries. Tell her go to payless and get a pair for under 20$! just my opnion!!

i have to say, i was annoyed by my one bridesmaid (who has more money then the other 3) who said she was getting her shoes dyed to match the ivory dresses i picked, and then 3 days before the wedding, casually let me know she never did it..and she was wearing gold ones,... i was PISSED...but to be honest, no one looked at her feet, the gowns were long, and after all, it was just something else i stressed over for no damn reason lol, this particular bridesmaid, also did not get her hair done at our place..went somewhere else, and pretty much wore it down it was a mess after an hour...and also refused to get make up done with us...wierd and yes i was mad, but yaknow what? it didnt matter to me, and shes gonna be the one upset when she looks at the pictures lol

I wouldn't necessarily make her get her shoes dyed - but I also don't think nude would look good with red - but thats just me. I mean I am having tea-length dresses and didn't want my BM's to bother with the shoe dying and I am having them get white shoes to go with a lavendar dress (which has a white sash) So it's really up to you. If they are long dresses, I don't think it really matters.
