Ok, I don't mean to sound ungrateful or selfish, I am pissed off and a bit hurt. FH and I had an engagement party, and it was beautiful. It was also quite pricey, but FH and I wanted to bring both our friends and family's to meet, and we wanted our parents to be happy, so to me it was worth the money. My parents gave us a nice size cash gift, and My mother wrote a beautiful speech welcoming FH into our family, and saying how she was happy to have him in our lives......
Ok, Now, My FMIL did not even get us a happy engagement party card!!! NOT EVEN A CARD!!! Geeze... Now I know that she is happy that we are getting married, and she does like me and I like her. But not even a card? No gift? Nothing!!!
I know that money is tight, and I did not expect a gift, but geeze some sentiment would have been nice. I would even have been happy with a hand made card.
Am I a terrible person for being offended by this...

definitely would have been mad! u have every right to be pissed shes gonna be ur 'family' u would think she would just get a card to write some small sentiment to congratulate the two of u! fmil's ahhhhh!!!!! dont get me started...lol

I hear you! We've been engaged since last August and getting married in 3 weeks... I'm still waiting for something, not even like a bridal magazine, treating to dinner...nada.... and they have the $

I would be hurt too. A card is only a few dollars. If she couldn't afford to give a gift, at least a card would have been nice.

i am huge card person (not particularly a gift person) so i would be upset it we were not given a card...
