Would you be pissed? I am-I think

Would you be pissed? I am-I think

Valentine's Day is not a real big deal to us but we exchange cute things, cards, maybe a stuffed animal..etc.. our anniversary is 2 weeks away..etc..

So I got DH 3 cards (it's a thing with us) and left them on the table in the am for him to open when he came downstairs before he went to work.

Well there were no cards for me there, but he made up for it that night. The thing is, he didn't open his cards yet. It's now almost 2 days since I left them there. He says she's been busy and he has been, but come on, how much time does it take to open some cards?

He is out at a work function tonight and I gave him crap about it. He says I should get over it.

Really, does it take that much time to open the cards? Could he have taken them to work with him and opened them there and put them in his briefcase?

Am I being unreasonable? I don't know exactly why I'm pissed, but I am...

I would be annoyed, too. You took the time to find something sweet to say, and he doesn't take an interest in opening it. That's probably not what it is at all, but I know that is how I operate and think, and why I would be annoyed.... sort of like when FH doesn't understand why I enjoy getting cards from him so much...

You are right. I'm annoyed. I take cards very seriously and we have a thing. We buy 3 cards. Two are mushy and one is funny. So we pick out cards that really mean something. We always write some funny, sexy cute stuff in the cards too.

His cards were great (and so were the chocolates)..etc..

Sigh..

Yes, I would be annoyed because you spent time chosing them and it would only take a few minutes to open.

Thank you!!!!! I thought I was cracking up. After all, he gave me the cards and I opened them and they were great (as usual). Like I'm not busy...hhhmmmph!

I'd be upset for sure. It takes not even a minute to open and read. Hopefully he'll come around and apologize. for you

He opened them at 1am when he got home last night. Still perturbed.

I would but my FH does the same thing. Just yesterday he told me he had gotten two cards in the mail from a friend and I asked what the cards were for and he said he didn't know because he didn't open in -- hello! why not open it? - he said he didn't have the time and he's bad about opening letters...made no sense to me so I made him open them asap! Of course, they were invitations and needed to be RSVPed to - my point is that men are clueless sometimes and he probably didn't mean anything by it.

I would be upset also... It doesnt take that long to open card, especially since I feel cards express your feelings. It like pouring your heart out to someone and they jsut ignore, thata how I would feel. But ofcourse he is a male and sometimes they dont think and come out as being insensitive. You prob have to really spell out to him.

i was in the same situation... damn boys

he had worked a 24 on monday and then came home tuesday morning only to have his grandpa call him up and ask him to come over and help work on the addition they are putting on the house.. so I was like ok he going to be cranky when he gets home but whatever... I made a beautiful dinner for him ( chocolate fondue for dinner and everything) and all he wanted to do was go to sleep, didnt eat dessert or open the card or anything...

I FEEL YOUR PAIN!!

Why dont men just learn how to connect emotion with the real world. They are such non-thinkers.

I would be sad especially since you put the thought into picking out three cards. Picking the card is the hardest part! Men just don't get cards - I had to BEG FH just to buy me one last year for Vday (and he did), but this year he 'forgot' to get a card again
