Would you be upset?

Would you be upset?

If your FMIL bought a dress that was basically the same color as your mom? My mom got her dress in the summer and its like brown/bronze and we told everyone about it. FMIL goes out and buys a dress (its totally different style) that is like a shade lighter than my moms.. but its basically the same. Her shoes are even bronze. My mom says she doesnt care but I feel bad for her. She bought her dress in the summer and FMIL is thinner than my mom and her dress is super slim fitting and sexy.. I know my mom will look great in her dress too because its beautiful on her I just feel bad because its basically the same color ... its like why did FMIL keep saying oh let me know what color your mom is wearing if she went out and bought the same one?

sorry its so long

that is annoying!! My Mom would be super aggrevated if my FMIL did that!

Luckily, my FMIL asked me what color she should wear!

Yikes!

I would definitely be upset. I'm in a similar situation as well. My mom is plus sized and my fh's mom is very thin and sexy for her age, so i wouldn't want my mom being shown up either. me and fh have gotten into fights b/c i wanna go with fmil to pick out her dress and he tells me not to worry b/c his mom's a great dresser. i know she is, and that's kind of the problem..

but anyway, i would be upset if i were you. it's definitely not right

My FMIL DID ask me! My mom bought her dress back in the summer and we told her the color my mom was wearing.. I think that is what upset me the most.. like why did you bother to ask me if you went out and got the same color?

My poor mom was so cool about it.. she looked at the pic and was like that is exactly my color.. but at least she didnt pick ivory!

Its annoying and I feel bad for your mom but is there anything that can be done? Can you FMIL switch the color of her dress?

I would be upset too, especially if she asked. But maybe she thinks they're supposed to match? Someone asked me that recently - if the moms are supposed to match. I would ask her about it and ask her to find a different color if it upsets you.

I would be a little annoyed with her... but I am sure she didn't even think about it when buying it.

I would be a little upset but at least its a little diffferent. As long as your mom is really ok with it, their should not be a problem

Re: Would you be upset?

My mom and FMIL talked about what colors they wanted to wear to make sure that they don't wear the same ones. I think etiquette is that the mother of the bride picks first and then the Mother of the Groom gets to choose but my mom didn't want to do that. I'm happy that she went about it the way she did. She decided on eggplant, which my FMIL wore at her daughter's wedding so she definitely won't be wearing it again.

awwww.. I would definitely be annoyed especially if she already knew the color and even asked you. But it's your day and your mom will look great standing next to you. Don't worry too much!

maybe I'm wierd but I don't think it's a big deal. I want my mom and FMIL to be happy and comfortable in what they wear.

i would be a little upset. but i think it will be ok. for pictures, the moms really aren't in pics right next to each other if they are even in one together. i think it will be ok.

ETA: were you specific about what color you wanted her in? i 'requested' they wear a certain color.

I'd be a little annoyed. But I know I'd have to grin and bear it and eventually I'd get over it.

IMO, at all the weddings I've been to the MOB always got more attention than the MOG. Sounds childish on my end, but this is what I've observed....

Um, honestly, I don't think it's a big deal. I prefer to have them close in color instead of completely opposites.
