Would You Get Married On September 11? POLL

Just curious, with all the talk about terrorism... would anyone get married on Sept 11 if it's on a Saturday night?

I read about a bride who actually did this in 2004 'cus she got a great great deal on that date...

I wouldnt not just because I dont want the reminder, but also because a lot of other people were affected by this day and I think its a day that many find hard to handle. I dont think people would be as inclined to show up or party on that day, JMO.

Im not sure... but another way to look at it is If you say NO... you are letting the terrorists win... they are some how creeping in to your life and altering it as well... maybe it would be good if something beautiful happened on that day of saddness...

i feel that this being a new york city area message board, you're more likely to find NO's.

as far as letting the terrorists win, again being that we're so close to ground zero it plays a role. if i lived in another part of the country, where i can feel secure that none of my guests were personally affected, then i would consider it as a possibility for a wedding.

no I personally wouldn't. My aunt lost her best friend that day. I would want this aunt at my wedding and I think it would be too much for her. She goes to the wtc site every year.

I would still have my wedding on the 11th of September. Weddings are a joyous event and although 9/11 is significant to all of us I strongly believe that life goes on. Im sure the victims of 9/11 and their families want joy and happiness to be cherished each and every day, especially considering the situation.

A very close friend of mine was married last year on September 11. They were married on that date b/c it was their dating anniversary. They had dated for 10 years.

I couldn't do it. Lost a friend in 9/11 and many others around me that I knew from the neighborhood and fire service. Too sacred of a date for me to get married.

My friend in Dallas had a planned C-Section for 9/11/01. The C-section was planned for noon time. After she heard everything that was happening on 9/11, she went ahead with the surgery!! I couldn't believe it! I wouldn't want my son or daughter born on that particular day, if I had the choice of waiting one day. To each their own, of course, but what an awful reminder.

Yes I would. My cousin did last year. She did it because it is also her grandparents anniversary and it was her way of honoring them.

When I first saw the date on the invite it was a bit eerie but we all had a wonderful time and nobody gave it a second thought.

I would.....the only way to defeat terrorism is to replace the sadness with new and happier memories.

The more we treat 9/11 as a solemn day the more they have won.

i believe we need to remember but we also need to move on,

I agree. It doesn't make anyone a horrible person if they choose to get married, have a baby, or embark on any other beautiful journey that life brings on the 11th day of September.
