Would you rather have a husband who worked a lot and made a lot or....

Original post by Bridex100

Which would you rather have?

A. Husband who works a lot but makes more than enough to support you and your family. He wouldn't be able to chip in as much when it comes to picking up the kids, doing housework, etc. You could keep your career but you'd need outside help.

B. Husband who works good hours (9-5) but doesn't make as much. He wouldn't be able to support you and the kids. Both of you would have to work full-time to make ends meet but you could share the responsibilities.

Right now I have A- We dont have children and we are fortunate that I am not working and can travel with DH- it's not always easy- he works insane hours- but we felt this would be best for us for now- it is temporary- if he works his tush off NOW, we will be able to have him have a great salary AND be home with children when they come along- so we sacrafice now-for the future

A, that's exactly what I have, except FH makes the effort to help around the house, and is very attentive to my needs.

Interesting question.

I've (more or less) got scenario B. FH is a teacher, I'm a guidance counselor. I don't think I could be a stay-at-home mom, at least not long-term. (I'd like to take a year off when we have a baby). I LOVE my job, and busted my butt to get it. Maybe I'll change my mind when we actually have kids, but right now, I can't see giving up my career.

unfortunately, both FH and I are in category A for the work time, yet B in the salary

These are the prices one pays to stay in academia and be 'your own boss'.....

on the flip side, our hours are really flexible, so when we have kids, we can do our experiments at odd times and take 'shifts' with the progeny.....

I would rather have a husband who loves and enjoys his job, no matter the pay. (Well, as long as it's enough to live on Long Island.) The amount of money that he makes isn't as important as whether he's happy with his career. Besides, I have no plans to become a housewife, so it's not as if I need him to support me.

definately B!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! my fh is more like a..he constantly works (he says to be able to support me and buy a house, the whole nine yards) but i hate it..i never see him!
plus choice A reminds me too much of that movie: 'Click'..for those of you who have never seen it, please do..you should never put your job before your family!
