OK so I found out that the BP is going to be wearing red. Should I return the dress and look for another?
It looks short here but it's not that short on my b/c I'm very petite
in green (i dont' think it gives the dress the same effect) close up

I don't think I would wear it to a wedding. It's a cute dress though.
If it's at least knee length on you and you wear a wrap it could work. If it is that length, it's definitely too short for anyone over 18.

That used to be the case for the mob not to wear red to her daughter's wedding but i never heard that for the guest of a wedding. I've heard of never wearing red to a funeral. Even if it wasn't knee length i think it's adorable. Great choice!

I've heard that also and what I've heard is that it's because it a color that is very attention grabbing.
That being said if it's a holiday themed wedding and her BM's dresses are red it would be a no-no I think to wear a red dress.

lol i completely can relate. There are dresses that long so short on the models but when i try it on its knee length for me lol. SO yeah if its knee length then its perfectly fine.
Ive heard of not wearing red to a chinese wedding bc in chinese tradition the bride wears red. But otherwise i think its fine as long as the bride is not asian.

I would find out what the BP is wearing first....if not green then I would wear it in green but in red it is too bright for me - I'd be afraid that it would take attention from the bride and it's her day. JMHO sorry

I agree bc a holiday wedding might be in holiday themed colors... I would also ak. otherwise I think both dresses are great.

Re: Would you wear this to a holiday wedding
I personally wouldn't wear it to a wedding. it's too short and some people consider the bright red rude to wear to a wedding. It's considered as if u are seeking attention when attention should be on the bride and groom. Sorry...I'm a stickler for those old school ettiquette rules lol.

Hmm interesting...I didn't know it's a traditional thing. I just never heard of any problem with wearing red to a wedding before so I didn't really think about it until DH brought it up.

I would definitely return it or wear it somewhere else....sorry. It's beautiful but I'd be really embarassed to wear the same color as the BP. Kind of takes the attention off them and the bride...I'd also worry that guests were talking about me and saying 'Why did she wear the same color as the BP?' Because...some guests would think or say that

i would definitely return it and get another dress in a different color. i went to a wedding once wearing the same color as the BP. I had no idea before hand but I was SO embarrassed that day because people were asking me if I was in the BP

Re: Would you wear this to a holiday wedding *UPDATE*
If you know ahead of time what the bp is wearing then I understand the whole not wearing the same thing. But honestly, how many weddings have we all attended that wasnt a very close friend and knew what color the bp was wearing ahead of time. MOST weddings Ive attended, I had no clue what color the bm dresses were, and it can happen that someone shows up in the same color, i wouldn't think it was rude bc i would just think oh no the person had no idea. I attended a wedding where the girls wore like a deep purple like an eggplant color, and another color wore eggplant to the wedding. She had no clue and sometimes theres nothing you can do. I even just remembered that I once wore burgundy to a wedding and didnt know the bride or knew anything about the wedding and the brides had a bit of a maroon colored dress.
