I agree that you should send a certified letter, return receipt and tell them that you have made repeated attempts to contact them, etc.
Start keeping a log of every time that you call, get the name of the person with whom you leave a message, ask for a specific time when you can expect to receive a call in response-- just be very detail oriented and specific.
I don't know the situation you are facing, but it seems very frustrating that they are not responsive to you.

Good luck with it!

OMG the same thing happened to me until I finally got a call back saying the date has not been booked. It is a scotto's hall as well. Call and ask to speak to the owner or manager and tell them know one is returning your calls. Unfortunately i'm out like 5K!!!! but I do plan on checking out the hall to make sure the room will not be in use.

That is so terrible! I acn't beieve they won't return your calls. I would call again and threaten to report them to the better business bureau if they don't return your call. In addition I would threaten to call the local newspapers.

I was thinking the same thing.

How have you paid them? If by check have they all been cashed yet? If not, you can stop payment. You can dispute with credit card company if you paid by CC...Good luck. That's just terrible!

This is so frustrating, but do you have a friend who is an attorney? If so, a simply worded certified letter from your attorney might just do the trick. Don't lay down and die on this one. You've come too far and been through too much to let them win.

Even if you had to pay to get the letter done, it wouldn't be expensive.

Re: So WATERMILL STILL has not returned my calls

We orginally booked Jericho Terrace and that is what was happening with me, so I had a co-worker call and ask if they had the room avaible for so many people on such and such date and time and wanted to see what they said. They told her they were booked so a week later I called them and wanted to know if I cold get my money back and it was a year to the date when they booked it and they said that they had to discount the price b/c it was a cancelation and they lost money (which is bull if you ask me). So I would have someone call and check up on them. I had my wedding at the watermill and they are horrible at calling people back, but they do throw a fantasic recetpion.

Maybe you could leave a message telling them that since you paid for a party of 50, they should plan on going ahead with it, and you will just collect random people off the street to come in and fill the hall. Maybe that would encourage them to at least call you back.....

Re: So WATERMILL STILL has not returned my calls

You know what the sad reality probably is? It's that you are no longer a paying cutomer who will be bringing 50 or so potential customers to their facility. Although they owe you the courtesy of good cutomer service, what will they get out of it for their effort? It's so pathetic that businesses think that way but it's true. Little do they know that you're addicted to LIW and have the power to reach thousands of potential customers with positive AND negative feedback. We have a very powerful tool here....look at how Duet's business is booming!

I say make a nuisance of yourself, they asked for it! And I'm sorry that an already tough time is being made even tougher.

I definately think some people need to go there and talk to these people. Perhaps if w whole bunch of us call regarding that date. They will start to realize someone is getting to the bottom of this. What did the contract say about cancellations? Can a lawyer help out?

I definately think that is unfair! I think you should go in on the weekend anyway. It is only fair that you are given a chance to find out the situation. Which room is it? I can call as well.

Start threatening legal action-do you know anyone who practices law and can draw up a letter?

i think having alot of people call is fantastic idea-really freek them out.

Good luck.
