lol....
ours isnt as bad as yours....
but it is in bay shore... even though our company is in melville (the boss lives in bay shore)
and we are not allowed to bring significant others.........
so that means even though there is an open bar - there will be no dribking cause now i have to drive 45 minutes home

my boss has a luncheon every year and before the party they ask me exactly how many people they have to buy for and sure enough there is barely enough food. I think they order less expecting less to come. and there is no alchol just wine and you are monitored on that.

Mine....
usually we get a monetary bonus (a weeks pay) and a party at a restaurant. This year, tiny bonus and takeout in the office kitchen.![]()

my company throws their party at the waldorf every year, which sounds great, but when ur in a company this large and that many ppl u get quite bored and they cheaped out this year didnt give us a gift at the end
and no bonuses this year! just when i reallllllllllllly needed it

That is such a great description Helena! Last year we had pizza and soda - oohhh wow!!! And because we were such good doobies, we actually got to leave ON TIME on Christmas Eve!! Thanks Ebenezer!!![]()

wow - a bonus.....
We've never gotten a holiday bonus, to add insult to the lacking party! I work for a pretty huge company too, so it makes me more angry than anything that 1.) we get shafted on any kind of year end bonus and 2.) with all the money we made this year, there's STILL no room on the budget to have a nice party at a nearby resturant?!? Man, I hate corporate reasoning!!!!
I'm with you on this one. Another big company (one of your competitors) with no xmas party and no bonus. We had a party a few years ago and no spouses were invited and it was on a Tuesday. I didn't go.
And my imprint is having a small gathering on Friday. We used to go to lunch is someplace nice right after the new year, but budget cuts have done away with that. Oh yeah, we have a hiring freeze so things have been crappy around here.

Thats funny we work in Melville and had our party in West Islip becuase the boss lives in Bayshore. But we had a nice party at the Bride

If our party was anywhere other than the building cafeteria - then I wouldn't really have a problem how far away it was - oh, and being able to decide for yourself whether or not you want to go would be nice too. I just love these 'forced' events......

Our Holiday party is Jan 14! How bogus is that.... They might as well forget it. We got acquired 2 months ago and the new company said that it has to be in the office, during business hours and NO alcohol. But the good news is that we can invite our spouses/SO, so they would have to take time from work to come!

We usually have food catered and the party is during the day in the office. This year we are going to a restaurant. Plus, I usually get a gift certificate from Borders from the big boss. BTW, I'm also in publishing.

what ever happened to the wild drunken holiday office revelries of the olden days? I'm in Publishing, and from what I'm always hearing from the lifers - we totally missed out on the crazy parties they always used to have back in the day! Hmmm, maybe that's why we get the Romper Room Christmas Special NOW....![]()

You probably heard the same stories I did. Come in at 10AM, take lunch at 1 til almost 4, come back and go in your office and 'work' quietly (read: sleep) for the rest of the afternoon and then work again from 6 until 8 or 9.
This is not what I signed up for!

Good luck! Staying with them wasn't an option so I'm going the unemployment route for a month or two...
