To be honest with you, I dont. I want our wedding to be what we make it to be. Its the love in the air that makes the day, not going out big on the hall or other fancy shmancy things. I've been to pompus wedidngs at Russos and Tavern on the Green and I'll tell you, I had a better time at a wedding in Leonards or the Milleridge Cottage.

Nah...we're paying for everything to do with our wedding and even though our budget for certain things are smaller than average and we are ommitting certain things I still don't think that we would have done things any different if we had more money...its one day and it goes by so fast (I 've heard this from so many past brides) we don't see the sense in putting ourselves over the top with this wedding...

Not really. I have to say I am having the wedding of my dreams! We are paying alot for it and working like a dog to pay for it, though!!
The only thing I am a little envious of are the brides that have their parents paying for it or part of it. At my age (34) I couldn't go to Mom and ask her to pay, especially when I make more than her. I know she wishes she could, though.

Ya'll a bunch of LIARS! LOL - I'm just kidding!
I get envious ... wish I could just blow 100K on a wedding and have it somewhere else and really do it up HARDCORE (LISA - that's for you.)
Obviously if we were rolling in cash like that inthe first place, then it wouldn't be seen as 'Just One Day that blows by really quickly' type of thing.
Obviously we'd probably have a different Calibur of friends and family at that point!

Nope-there are some 'extras' that I feel are important to me, and other people have 'extras' that they feel are important to them...it's all a matter of preference.

No bc regardless of how much money I had I would feel like it is a waste. I rather have a large home one day then a expensive wedding.

Girl watch- when you're up there at the altar or wherever you get married and you're facing the man of your dreams, nothing is going matter more to you than that moment. Thats the moment that stays with you...have fun at the party and Im telling you, the good vibes rub off on everyone around you and all these expensive 'extras' wont matter...use the extra $$ for Louis Vuitton bags

Re: Do You Ever Get a Little Jealous...
I never get jealous. I am having the wedding I want. But I do envy the ladies who have their fathers with them as I miss mine more and more everyday. That will be the only missing thing from my wedding day.

Re: Do You Ever Get a Little Jealous...
i have to say i am having everything i want for my wedding BUT I am envious of the brides who dont get worked up easily, who take problems and issues in stride and dont let themselves get upset...cause i am sensitive and the little things bother me and they are starting to add up and are taking a toll on me mentally...had a meltdown yesterday, no fun!

Not really. I don't think my wedding is gonna be any less beautiful just because we are not sepnding 60k. I am so grateful for what I have (friends, family, healty, great FH) that I've never even thought about that.
Be happy for the things you have, and not the things you don't...JMO

Re: Do You Ever Get a Little Jealous...
Never jealous...I can honestly say that I am having the wedding of my dreams. If I had more money, I would have not spent my money any differently. I think both FH & I made wise decisions when it came to what we wanted. Of course we cut costs in some areas but I got everything that I wanted for our day...In my opinion it is just one day, 5 hours, the money we spend on the wedding has nothing to do with our marriage. I am very proud of FH & I that we are paying for the entire thing ourselves

Re: Do You Ever Get a Little Jealous...
I think I am jealous of anyone that is doing it and doesn't feel the pinch of spending it all. I feel mixed about those that are going all out and are putting strain on themselves and their parents..
technically we COULD spend more on the wedding, but being realistic, I don't want to. I am just thinking of all of the days after....it HAS to be tough to pay off- any debt that large. I don't need the wedding of my dreams...as long as I've got the man of mine and a great party I'm good.
eta: I've never had a 'dream' or an idea of what my wedding to be...it's unfolding before my eyes.

HAHA.. I DO! I DO!!! As it is, we are having a great wedding.. but I know every decision I've had to make has been about $$ and shopping around for the best value, but still 'loving' (sort of..) what they are offering.
Not to sound like a brat, but I really didn't want the huge wedding cause I knew money would be an issue with the huge families both FH and I have (both of our parents are divorced, heck my dad's on his 3rd wife!) But the parents really wanted a celebration, so thats what we're doing. Would I change a few things if I had the moolah??? Heck Yeah!

Re: Do You Ever Get a Little Jealous...
Not of other people's weddings. I know that if I want to put the time effort and sacrifice into it I can have any kind of wedding I want. The thing that gets me sometimes is when people ahve parents who are paying for all, most or some of the wedding expenses, or who were able to pay for college and grad school. I don't resent my parents at all, I know they would have paid for it all if they were able, but sometimes when i think about the choices I have to make (wedding or grad school) or I wonder where the $$ is coming from, I think 'this isn't fair, we shouldn't have to do this on our own.'
