M&S Sept292006

I just sent in my contract for Battery Gardens and deposit! It took a few weeks to get the paperwork in order. It just sank in -- I am getting married!! hehe.

Oh awesome...beautiful place. I love it! You're gonna have a blast!

Not really jealous, it would just be SO much easier doing the planning if cost wasn't an issue.

I think I am jealous of anyone that is doing it and doesn't feel the pinch of spending it all.

I agree with this 100%. I am somewhat jealous of the emotional support that others have from their families. While our families are happy for us, they are no involved in the planning at all. I'm not speaking to my mother after some horrible things she's done. So when I hear others talking about doing stuff with their mothers, I get jealous and upset that I can't do that with mine.

Overall, I am having the best wedding that we can afford and will be happy in the end because we were married on our own terms the way we wanted to.

I am jealous of girls who get to plan with there Mom's- my Dad is letting me get away with spending more b/c she isn't here

But- If she was still alive- I would be ready to kill her at this point- we did not have the same taste!

Yup, me too. We've made sacrifices so we can have the wedding of our dreams, it would be great to have all of this money and not have to worry. I still would get married at the same place, just during a warmer month.

No bc regardless of how much money I had I would feel like it is a waste. I rather have a large home one day then a expensive wedding.

u've hit it right on the dot, I keep trying to tell my FH that 'MY' house is what i want to invest in, not my one day that will be perfect no matter what b/c i'm w/ him

(but i do have those moments where i feel i need everything.....its in a women nature )

No I am happy for other and I happy for what i have - My parents alwasy told me -
Sometime you get what you want
Sometimes you get what you need
and sometimes you get what you get
but no matter what you make the best of it

Very well put!!

As for the question at hand, I'd say no. I'm having the wedding I've always wanted.

I second this.
However, I do enjoy negotiating and bargain hunting. I've always been like this. So I'm looking at the whole process as a big game of 'How can I get the best for the least'. It does help relieve the financial stress on FH and I.
We are paying for 100% of the wedding. So, we've done everything OUR way, with no interference/opinions from anyone. It's extremely gratifying that we've been able to do so much on our own. AND still have an amazing wedding.

Nah...it's actually killing me to have a big wedding anyway, I'd truely be happy with a family dinner celebration. However, I want to make my Fh and his family happy, and they will have nothing but the 'long island wedding'. Of course FH and I have to pay for it all...but that's okay. We are both in the Bridal business somehow, so we have lots of connections thank GOODNESS, and getting a $50,000 wedding for half that. But it's all about the two of you, and your life together, wedding is just to be with family and friends to enjoy that moment.

I'll tell ya what I am really jealous of.......People that can take a month honeymoon...THAT I would LOVE!

now it's my turn to agree with you (and Hollie too) I think that for the money I am spending I am going to have a fantastic affair, and that is b/c I am researching and getting the most bang for my buck. I am trying to stay away from 'established' vendors, who's price reflects how 'in demand' they are for people that are maybe less known but are still fabulous. names don't matter much to me...my pocket does.

my dress is Reem Acra, via Dona Miguelina, a seamstress who can (hopefully) put together a dream that is based in my reality- a fantastic knock-off, but with originality too!

oh yeah- and THANK GOD that I am blessed with some seriously talented friends!

spelling! grrr

Not really. I have to say I am having the wedding of my dreams! We are paying alot for it and working like a dog to pay for it, though!!

The only thing I am a little envious of are the brides that have their parents paying for it or part of it. At my age (34) I couldn't go to Mom and ask her to pay, especially when I make more than her. I know she wishes she could, though.

same here

Re: Do You Ever Get a Little Jealous...

Here's what I'm trying to say:

I get a little jealous when I see people who have these very extravagant weddings - I just wish that money was never an object, b/c then I'm sure things would be different.

ie: have you seen some weddings (most especially Joey Fatonne's) at the Oheka Castle?

My question (remarks) previously had nothing to do with any regrets for the decisions made for my wedding. I know that our wedding day will be exactly how we've set it up to be and it'll be one of the most memorable aspects of our lives. I cannot stand to spend a lot of money on things just b/c there are things higher on the list of priorities where that money will be going.
