Probably a lot of people do-- i fyou choose that date--make sure you send out save the date cards to people you know you will invite as soon as possible. My friend is going to two weddings this 4th of July weekend so it is a popular time to get married.

Re: Another date question - sorry
I think it's fine. People that live in the area can still go away for a long weekend and people that have to travel to the area may make it a long weekend here.
If you go with that date, I would send out save the date cards early so your guests can make their plans accordingly. Also, keep in mind the traffic & hotel situation of Long Island in the summer in mind and block rooms for multiple nights.

Re: Another date question - sorry
A lot of people will have to take the day off for your wedding. Very few people get off July 3rd. Although you get some great deals at the hall, just remember that you should make the reception after 6pm (so people just have to leave work a bit early), don't expect a ton of guests at your ceremony (unless it is in the same place late in the evening) and do not have your reception anywhere out East. The traffic to get past Exit 55 the day before a summer holiday is horrible and will really delay your guests. On the plus side- you can do sparklers instead of bubbles or petals, have fun sunglass favors, use red/white/blue flowers, and have a lot of fun.

Re: Another date question - sorry
I'm getting married July 3 of this year, so I think it is a great date! And it's a Wed. Most everyone has the fourth off, so I look at it the same as a Friday any week of the year. There are many friday night weddings and people don't have Fridays off.
We did get a great deal on the hall and on the limos especially. Most places don't have weddings on Wed, so we got double upgrades on the cars since they would just be sitting there.
I do have to say though, that we have less people attending then we originally thought. But that has a lot to do with FI family who are all out of towners, but that saga is another story in itself! Everyone we invited that lives on LI is attending though.
I say go for it!

I think it would be fine being that the 4th is a Friday, which means 4-day weekend. I am kind of in the same situation where I want to have my wedding on a Friday of a holiday weekend where most people are off on Monday. I was worried that many people wouldnt be able to come but I think most will (we dont have a lot of out of towners!) Good Luck.
PS-I think the red/white/blue theme & sparklers would be so fun too!!

I'm getting married July 4th next year, which is a Friday so I think its a great time of year to get married.
I'm going to be sending out save the date magnets and hotel information ahead of time, so my out of towners can get what they need.

I say May 31st also.. i got married May 25th this year, and whats good about getting married a few days before or after memorial day is that we can always take a short trip somewhere for our anniversary for the 3 day memorial weekend!...
