Re: fh's last name

I like FH's last name better. But, I am not changing it legally. It just seems like major pain to go through the trouble, so Iw ill use it socially, but not change it legally. I'll also most likely use my maiden name at work

I really like his last name - but I LOVE my last name too!
I will be 30 when we get married and it is going to feel weird after 30 years to be called something else!

I agree. Plus, I'm a teacher and it will be so strange hearing the kids call me something else after 11 years of teaching and being known as one name.

I'm still working out a deal with FH.

My first plea got shut quickly - he does NOT want to change HIS last name. haha.

Now I'm bargaining with him that I want to use the '-' for my last name. Sortta like Mrs. Cleokizzy SingleB4-MarriedNow

Hmmm....I love my loooong Greek last name but it is kind of annoying since nobody can pronounce it. He has a nice short Sicilian last name so I don't mind changing it.....I contemplated keeping mine but then when I thought about it and having kids, I want us all to have the same last name. Mrs. Latona here I come!

OMG you are my opposite! This is so funny, I have a short Sicilian last name and I desperately want to keep it because FH's last name is 15 letters and NO ONE (that isn't Greek) can pronounce it!

I hate FH's last name...as I've mentioned before, its pronounced like SKANK

But I hate my last name more...most of my family is named something else and my grandmother made my grandfather change it to distance him from his family...she was a c*nt and fortunately the name dies with me...

But now I get to be Ilana SKANK

At least it doesn't look how its said so I can pretend that's not actually my name hahaha

Ilana -- I know a few ladies who have made their husbands change the way they pronounce their last name before they marry them!

kind of funny, but possible!

Re: fh's last name

I really like my last name, i think its cute and its hard to tell my nationality. But FH's is clearly italian and everyone pronounces it wrong! And i think it sounds funny with my first name, Rachel.

Regardless I am taking his name.

Re: fh's last name

I don't particularly like either of our last names. Mine begins with an 'I' and is clearly Italian. His begins with a 'U' and is german. Growing up, I always said I couldn't wait to marry someone so I could have a last name that didn't start with a weird vowel (the other A, E, and O not being 'weird' when I was 10). Whoops, guess I failed miserably at that!

Both of our names are often mispronounced. Both need to be spelled out when they're said. It is going to be annoying for me professionally. But I'm very traditional... so I'll be changing.

I'll be taking his and I love it! I'm Colombian and have a very common spanish last name, so my full name is extremely popular. It's hard to find me on facebook or google b/c it's so popular. Now, I will definitely be more unique.

I can't wait to take his last name! I love it! I am going from a hard to pronounce Italian last name to an easy to pronounce Italian last name, and I just think it sounds pretty.... Danielle DiMartino

Although my initials will be D.A.D. after we get married!!

Re: fh's last name

I L-O-V-E my last name & wish so badly I could hyphenate it but 1. FH wont let me & 2. it would sound stupid. We both have short Italian names. It's going to be hard when the change happens, as much as I want it to, I will probably cry like a baby. The name does not end w/me, I have plenty of male cousins but I feel an tremendous amount of honor and pride for my last name.

OMG... I HATE FH's name which is one of the reasons why am NOT taking it. He could care less if I take it or not so it's all good.
First of all I am a proud Italian. FH is 75% Italian, 25% Checksolvokian... of course his last name has to be the Czech part of him!!! UGH. His name is Krulish (pronounced cruel-ish) how fugly!!!!!!!!!!!!!
