I personally do not think that they have to match, but my bridesmaids are wearing a royal blue/cobalt color and my mother is wearing navy blue, which matches. My FMIL has not found a dress yet, but she is trying to match. I do not think it is wrong though if you asked her to try to match the colors. There are so many colors out there, I am sure she can find one that compliments the colors of your wedding party. JMO.

My colors were Pink & White and my mom wore Green and MIL wore black. I don't think they have to match.

Our colors are black, white and red.
My BMs are in black, so is my FMIL (not planned) GMs are in black, so is my dad.
If you want them to match, that is fine. I don't think they have to. Either way, I think it'll be fine.

They definitely do not HAVE to match, so if MIL wants something else, don't stress it!
Our colors were deep red, champagne and brown. My mom wound up wearing a nice coppery brown that went, but only because it's her favorite dress color. MIL wore midnight blue and looked just lovely.

I definitely don't think they have to match. If they wanted to, they know the color scheme.
My girls are in midnight blue. My mom is going to be in a light coffee color FMIL has two dresses - one in platinum and the other in bronze. She ordered two and hasn't made up her mind.

My colors are celadon and black. MOB is wearing midnight blue FMIL is wearing Royal blue. They dont have to match the bridal party.

i dont think it necessarily needs to match. they can pick a color that sets them apart from the rest of the bm's so that they are acknolwed acknowledged as the parents.
